As the righties become even more marganlized, they insist on becoming more radical and more conservative.  They just don't get it.  America has rejected YOU and your hate.  Your teabagging failed.  The last 8 years failed.  Your movement failed.  You are heading towards permanent minority status.  You are walking fossils, and you don't even know it.  You had a decent run, just be sure the last person out turns off the lights.  Good night and good riddance, GOP.

If you look at the broad arc of history... there is less socialism / progressivism in the world today than there was 10, 20, 30 years ago.

You should take note of this before writing the conservative obituary. They said the same thing in 1976.

Leftism is unsustainable for humanity. The 20th century is a guide for what not to do with governmental systems. A nice idea gone awry. Humans won't make that mistake again, unless we have an extremely arrogant demagogue at the helm...

        oops!

It's funny that you have no real meat in your statement. Nothing but the juvenile taunts that libs are socialists. It's to be understood though, you feel deeply threatened that the group to which you are fiercely loyal is in jeopardy of losing its cohesion. It's that instinctual gut level fear that crowds out your dispassionate capacity to reason. But it will lose its cohesion because the ideas that once served it so well are tired and have wrecked the lives of so many hard working Americans. Case in point, the right (and some on the left) with their radical capitalism/free trade ideology in its materialistic pursuit of profit over people has destroyed the sanctity of a person's labor. Wages have been driven down while more and more of the fruits of their labor have been given, through conservative tax policy and skewed labor law, to the leisurely investor class.

You're partially correct though, conservatism will not just go away. Conservatism is a cultural, moral order that gives its adherents a sense of belonging, it fulfills a basic human need for security. That's powerful stuff. It's just too bad for you that progressives are finally learning how to win the culture war.

Not all libs are socialists... but if you look at liberal policies, they simply resemble the policies of the social democrats. Either way, they're regressive for society simply because they are a reaction to the contradictions within capitalism.

You're piggy-backing on the 'system'... and causing distortion.

I'm familiar with the inner workings of the conservative movement. While I appreciate your critique of it, I know it is not accurate. There has been a steady peeling away of New Deal & Great Society programs over the decades which I am keenly aware of. The trend is away from statism, simply because it causes the types of problems we're experiencing today. Irresponsible government intervention caused this financial crisis. The smart folks out there realize this... and they realize that they can minimize this problem from occuring again if they pull the lever for the appropriate party. Granted that this party has coalesced behind those economy-growing Reagan policies. Last time we did this, it was two back-to-back landslides, which occurred right after a failed Carter.

Obama is Carter's 2nd term... with a little Woodrow sprinkled in.

And your last paragraph is wishful thinking. It's arrogance that will be the left's downfall. The conservatives will quietly chuckle, but will not hold your ignorance against you. We're all Americans just trying to figure out the best way forward. Progressive policies were not the most effective in the 20th century. You cannot erase this history.

I like the 2-party system, but the republican party is just a niusance to the country. We might need another party to creep up

I say two more parties; one for the right and one for the left.  This way, the Democrats will be rightly viewed by the MSM as the moderates that they are.
