Can I be the first to explain grades to Rush?
When you give a report card to a kid, it is the grade for the entire semester. Those grades are locked in place. You're not going to get a note from your teacher five days later telling you that, due to the fact that you failed the first test of the new semester, the grade for the last semester falls too.
Just give him an F, you hypocrite. Why beat around the bush?
This is where Rush's 'humour' comes in. Should anyone actually confront him on an issue like this, he would say he's joking and then explain the humour. However, the classification of it as a joke only happens after the confrontation has began. Up until that point, his listeners aren't laughing: they're agreeing. His 'jokes' are actually poorly disguised instructions on how to think.
For instance, in this case, his listeners are being told to expect more failure. Should someone call him on it, he could fall back on the point that he's 'joking'. It's blunt, it's shallow, it's anti-intellectual and, worst of all, it's effective.
When someone calls Rush a propagandist, it's because he is one. By some standards, a good one.
I hate to admit it, but that's a pretty funny line.
Personally, I give Obama a grade of "B". Gotta leave room for improvement.
*yawn* Obama could cure cancer and Rush would still claim he's a failure. GOP = officially irrelevant.
HARLEY Well said . I AGREE WITH THAT POST 100%.
