From the May 5 edition of Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH What if I decided I needed to go on a listening -- you know what, folks, instead of the Rush to Excellence tour, we're gonna go on a Rush listen tour.

I'm gonna show up in your town, I'm gonna set up a microphone that you use. And I'm gonna sit there and say nothing. And I'm gonna listen to you. And I'm gonna come back and I'm gonna put together a great radio prog --

What do you think would happen? Not very many people would show up, and if I actually did listen, it would be a disaster because you can't take the advice of 20 million people, or 5,000, regardless of whatever the number is. And if you're a politician, you can't take the advice of 58 million people. This whole notion of listening, it's just -- it's a scam. Maybe, maybe we've gotten to the point where you have to scam the American people in order to get their votes. I hope not. See I'm enough of an idealist, probably a little naïve, and hopefully a bit of realist, to understand that it really works out best if you respect your audience, respect their intelligence, approach them that way.

Hilarious. I'm sure there's more to it than what it says in the headline but the irony of a talk radio host saying the whole notion of listening is a scam is just too much. I can't stand to listen to the clip but I'm sure he doesn't mean people shouldn't listen to him. Maybe the party shouldn't listen to the people? Or maybe the party is only pretending to listen. I don't know. maybe someone braver than I will listen and explain to me what he's on about.

I know! His audience is made up of... wait for it... LISTENERS!!! Does he realize that he just insulted, or at least marginalized ALL of them?! Do they?!

"I maintain that when a politician says we have to listen to the American people and learn, we are pandering. We're not leading." ~Rush Limbaugh

And this, my friends, sums up, in one line, everything that's wrong with the Republican Party, the Conservative movement, the Religious Right, the Hard Right Wing, Rush Limbaugh and all his fans and imitators: Our leaders don't have to listen to us.
Apparently he things that George Bush was a KING and that Sarah Palin will one day be QUEEN, ordained by GOD, in order to be served by us.

We do as THEY SAY?! WTF?! Rush, this is AMERICA. Our leaders are elected! And if they DON'T listen to the people they get VOTED OUT OF OFFICE. That's how it works in a democracy (Why do you hate democracy?) That's how it works in AMERICA (Why do you hate America?)

And they so do hate America, and it's values, and it's freedoms. They hate it with every fiber of their being that they can't install their puppets and have them rule us as dictators. THEY. HATE. DEMOCRACY.

Rush is completely correct on this. The American population needs a lesson on economics so as not to be fooled by obama's spending orgy which - contrary to what he has them believe - cannot possibly be paid for byt the top 2.5% of earners.
