Joe has probally the lowest IQ on cable news, and usually has no clue what he's talking about. Sometimes it's painful to even watch him. I just love some of the looks and eye rolls Miki gives him.

It was the Bush administration that rescinded the EIT memos. Thus dismantling the program and "making America less safe". Scarborough and Cheney both need to be called on this point.

Not only that, but the whole premise of 'Bush/Cheney kept us safe' is flawed. Safe from a costly war? Safe from making Iran the most powerful influence on Iraq? And safe because of torture, or safe because Bush/Cheney gave bin Laden what he said he wanted: U.S. troops out of Saudi Arabia.

Excellent point. The Bush/Cheney group only talks about "being safe" AFTER 09/11/2001. And what exactly was this group's position on 09/10/2001?

Though briefed, they ignored warnings about potential terrorist threats. Frankly, I feel safer merely because Bush/Cheney are no longer in power.

On September 10, 2001 the Bush administration's Attorney General submitted a request to cut funding for counter-terrorism.

So their position on keeping us safe prior to 9/11 was to ignore terrorism. It was only after the attacks that they used anti-terrorism as a tool to retain power and amass wealth.

Can anyone, with any discernible degree of accuracy, really know how safe we are???

Maybe those who are privy to the PDB would have a better idea than most of us, but certainly not some moron sitting behind a news desk who's paid exorbitant amounts of money for the sole purpose of making the news sexier.

This has become one of the most meaningless and downright abused talking points out there.

If in fact the Bush Administration had done the job of running the country well for the past eight years, one of the things that would have been enhanced is the United States Domestic Security. The National Security may be able to defend but an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. Why is there no paramount security network that protects domestically and nationally. The country is vulnerable from the inside and America should take steps toward real security and not just combat ability. We as a nation are in the midst of people who will kill not only themselves but us as a symbolic token of appreciation. There is an urgency to rid the United States of harmful entities in every city, town, and rural station. We have prejudiced ourselves against people who could possibly get er done, but we don't address the last president's ineptness to create a comprehensive sustainable model to accomplish the task and they know that attacks are ineveitable.

Power seems to make some people stupid and relaxed. I have yet to see the United States employ the most intelligent. We are still employing are good friends sons and our college buddies which is costing us everything. America is it's own worst enemy right now because we won't admit that we are a nation that exhaust priveledge at any cost. The security of Americans will change when influential people's children are at risk. If there was a strategy, we would have seen it locally by now.

Will any Republicans admit that they are now secretly praying for a terrorist attack? Nothing big, of course... just enough to scare the bedwetters into voting for them again. That's their one best hope to take back the White House in 2012.

Come on now... you know it's true. For years, they accused us of hoping for failure in Iraq... can they now be honest about their own secret longings?

The idea that waterboarding "kept us safe" for 7 years is almost as ridiculous as their arguments against Gay Marriage.

Nerzog I think you've nailed it on the head. Some Republicans believe that if they keep banging the drum about our weakest some terrorist will actually believe it and launch a strike against America. As you said, just enough to scare the "bedwetters" into voting Republican.

All I'd ask them to do is remember the Somali pirate situation.

Actually, allowing torture and endless holding of detainees in prisons is making the U.S. less safe.

It puts our people and soldiers at risk of having the same done to them.

Thank goodness these right-wing loons are no longer in power.

They just happen to shout louder. TDB.

You bring up a valid point that the Troglodytes have successfully shouted down since 9/11.

Our foreign policy has consequences. If you pi$$ people off in other countries, sometimes they feel justified in attacking you.

Now, before the "You hate America" nudniks chime in, this is not to say that we "deserved" 9/11 or anything like that. It is simply stating the fact that it's not smart to create enemies unnecessarily.

We are not Superman, and we are vulnerable to various forms of attack. I think it was Teddy Roosevelt who said it best: "Speak softly and carry a big stick." The Bush administration loved the Big Stick part, but ignored the other half of the equation.

Treating other people and other countries with respect almost never hurts anything, as long as you remember to keep up your guard and maintain a healthy skepticism.

Joe sounds like so many frustrated conservatives when they try to defend the leaders of the past eight years.

They all seem similar to Cheney and Bush lost and confused.

Cheney and Bush took 9/11 and turned a tragedy into an excuse for them to go after the oil fields of Iraq.

Bin Laden family members were allowed to leave the United States.

Torture is watching them be protected while there family member who is suspected of this horrific crime is still at large.

I wonder if Joe could explain why we are less safe today then with the approval of Cheney and Bush allowing the family members of Bin Laden to leave the country the day after 9/11.

He's a complete moron. Late into the show this morning, one of the other idiots from politico brought up an article in today's Wall St Journal ("Owned by the Pirate) about the Obama administration's plans to try and regulate the compensation packages and bonuses for Wall St executives so that it's based on performance and deters excessive risk taking when it threatens the economy as a whole. This would include banks that took TARP money and, those who did not. But, down in the 8th paragraph it said that since 2007 the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency had directed a large bank to make changes in compensation practices as well as 15 others to do the same. So, that idiot Scarborough sits there and starts to whine about this without mentioning that part of the story. So, when you see all of the Republicans on tv for the next few days crying socialism, just remember that this started in 2007. When BUSH was in office. Scarborough is a stupid pecker wood.

Oh yeah, Bush kept us so safe. His first 8 months in office he spent mostly at his ranch in Crawford. He ignored the memo about Bin Laden possibly mounting an attack on the US in August of 2001, he lied us into Iraq. I don't know about y'all, but that made me feel super safe for the past 8 years.

What a baseless remark. Scarbourough has no credentials in national security. The only committee that even comes close in his short stint as a congressman was Armed Services and he had no role in reviewing or approving national security policy. All he can claim is that he's a right wing talking head and that doesn't qualify him to create statements on the state of our national security in a vacuum.

She stated that her sons, son-inlaws and her husband had served in the military and that Joe, Rush and Pat B are ones putting America in danger. She also SLAPPED him with "NONE OF YOU CARE ABOUT OUR TROOPS" If you support turtore on this end that means "YOU COULD CARE LESS IN ONE OF OUR MEN OR WOMEN IF CAPTURED WOULD BE TORTURED!" She went on to say that the only reason you're defending torture is becasue of your political party! I hope someone from here gets that clip and post it. It was a DOOZER!

Hey Joe, was the radar working back in 2000 when Bush took office? How did you feel on 9/12? Please print any comments you made about how you felt less safe after Bush took office. How did you feel after finding out that the Clinton Admin tried to warn the Bushies about OBL and nothing was done? If your radar wasn't working back then, well that probably means you don't know what the heck you are talking about. Just trying to get the ratings up by saying something inflamatory. What a maroon.

I see Joseph still hasn't had that growth on his right side removed yet. What does she add to the show? She never says anything meaningful. This debate is not about safety. Torture is against the law, period.

Cheney tortured to concoct statements in order to beat the drums toward the Iraq War. Now he and his daughter (shame on him & her) are trying to cover it up.
