The only fear Limbaugh instills, is in the quacking ground, as his obese stature registers on the Richter scale as he walks.

The only fear Cheney instills, is from the membership at his local gun club, when he arrives.

Powell has more sence than Rush or Chaney will ever have.

It's almost approacing a Ben Stiller / Steve Carrell level of uncomfortable hilarity watching this party, philosophy and political orientation self destruct like this.

I don't think it's self-destructing. I think it's going through the necessary stage where the 'principles' of the Republican party are not what the country wants and moreso not what the country needs. Give it a few elections. Right now, everyone's in a panic trying to figure out how to avoid or fix the problems they're facing, and the lack of leadership is only exacerbating the problem.

In a few elections, however, it might come to the point where less gov't and lower spending are not only viable but good ideas. Then the Republican party will be able to make a come-back. But right now, their platform is completely unappealing. Not to mention, the Democrats are getting things done. They have no connection to the people, except those who will not budge on things like social issues, defense and economic policy.

The Republican Party has to eat a big slice of humble pie. It looks like it's self-destructing because those like Cheney and Limbaugh are refusing to acknowledge that the slice is even in front of them while others are trying to get it over with and move on. The others, however, aren't making enough noise about it to do their party any good.
