It was disingenuous on its face that Republicans would equate preparing our soldiers for the possibility that they'd be tortured to actually torturing them, but it's good to have an actual SERE instructor come out and call baloney. It was great to see Ali Soufan today completely kill any credibility that that hack Kiriakou used to have.

Very good, it seems hard to rebuke his logic especially if someone justifies it with the 24 like ticking time bomb scenario.

Talking point debunked...but somehow it will still resurface because this anonymous person who told me knows better than a SERE instructor. Just like they did to the guy who interrogated KSM....he has no clue you should take the advice of politicians and lawyers

For a while now, I've been critical of the Democrats for spending so much time on this issue, and I still think they should concentrate on the WMD lies if they're going to spend their political capital investigating the Bush Junta.

I must admit, however, that this little chess game is getting more interesting. Every Republican excuse has been nullified by witnesses like this, and they find themselves in the uncomfortable position of having to defend the practice of torturing prisoners. In a weird way, it's fun to watch them pretzelize in their lame attempts to excuse their inexcusable behavior.

It seems that the only defense they have left is that Nancy Pelosi knew about it and didn't have the political courage to stop them from breaking the law. Or, they have to hope they can prove that torturing these guys really did save thousands of lives, as Darth Cheney claims. I seriously doubt they can make a convincing case, except to the drooling sycophants who listen to Rush Llimbaugh... they'll believe anything.

My fear is that the Obama administration will stifle any further inquiry, even though the Republicans have painted themselves into a corner.

If they're too squeamish to investigate this, we can forget any finding of truth on Bush/Cheney's biggest crime... the needless invasion of Iraq.
