I'm just glad Fox has Family Guy to counter some of this. I am actually amazed that Fox hasn't tried to quash some of Seth MacFarlane's jabs at the right wing (namely the McCain/Palin button on teh nazi uniform)

They've done it to the Simpsons. Matt Groening told Jon Stewart a while back that The Simpsons could not mock Fox News-like service because Fox claimed they were afraid of confusing Fox viewers.

Well it has been cancelled a couple of times. That McCain/Palin button was hysterical. But they also mock Bill Clinton fairly regularly and there are always ethnic jokes so I guess there's enough balance for Fox. My favorite Family Guy line is "Can I Wham! my Oingo Boingo into your Velevet Underground?" The fact that it was Brian (the dog) saying it to a teenaged Lois was just icing on the cake.

Morgan Brittany was briefly almost semi-popular back in the 80s when people confused her with Morgan Fairchild for a couple of weeks. A quick check on IMDB shows that she hasn't seemed to have done any work for the last two years - her last credit is in 2007, a bit part in a pseudo-Bollywood flick whose big name star was Beau Bridges.

So the bigger story here is not Ms. Brittany's opinions, which she's entitled to no matter how ill-informed they are, but the fact that to find celebrity spokespeople willing to toe their party line, Fox News has to resort to Z-listers a quarter century past their prime who haven't even worked in two years.

I have to admit, I didn't have a clue who this person is.

I looked her up at IMDB and see that she's a TV actress known for such role's as Opie's girlfriend.

It did mention that she appeared in three episodes of the original "Twilight Zone".

I guess being a memeber of Hannity's "Great American Panel" is like appearing in a fourth episode.

          And I thought Hannity's America® was a rip-off of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

This isn't unusual, digging up a celebrity fossil as a "commentator" on Fox. I often turn the channel on to see Hannity discussing current events with old NFL players and sitcom stars who are just slightly more qualified than Hannity himself.

Doesn't Jack Bauer shoot people in the kneecaps?

Can't you hear the Talk Radio Troglodytes..."Shooting somebody in the kneecaps is not torture... we do it to our own trainees all the time".

And Sean Hanniterd would volunteer to let somebody shoot him in the kneecap.....

Back when I used to watch that show I remember one episode where they had a captive tied to a chair in front of a CCTV, which had a live feed of his wife and kids somewhere else also tied to chairs and flanked by masked soldiers. Bauer asked the detainee a question, he refused to answer, and they responded by flipping the chair with his son in it onto its back and shooting him in the face. The detainee agreed to cooperate after they moved on to his wife.

Should we do that to, since Jack Bauer does it?

What a joke. We should do it because they do it like that on a fictional TV show.

It was a fake-out, but he may have only done that because real torture didn't work. I know later in that season, they tortued a treasonous U.S. military commander with the president's specific approval (he actually saw what was happening). At that point, the show wasn't so bad, because torture was seen as the last resort of desperate men- maybe not excusable, but understandable. Later, it became the right thing to do every time, and anyone who tried to stop it was being used by the terrorists.

So an actress believes in the interrogation techniques of a fictional character. Amazing that she's actually using this crap in a discussion on torture.

Sure, if you KNOW BEYOND THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT that the person you have in custody has information about a bomb that will go off within the hour and you are DESPERATE, maybe pulling a couple fingernails out would get you the desired effect. However, if you do this, you should be charged and prosecuted by a jury of your peers for BREAKING THE LAW. The information you obtain from said scumbag would not be admissible in court for his/her prosecution. If you happen to be found guilty (which is doubtful), then you can go to prison knowing that you saved saves. You could probably negotiate a book deal while in prison for millions and be released as an instant celebrity during your first parole hearing.

TORTURE should NEVER be official US policy. Of course, this woman is welcome to her opinion.

I would expect that someone who saved lives would get pardoned anyway. Someone here made the comparison to speeding. If your wife is in labor, then you have to get to the hospital as fast as you can. That doesn't mean we need to eliminate speed limits.

I wouldn't care if it worked 100% of the time and was only used on really, really bad people. Torture is illegal and it is morally wrong.

I notice that this has become a coffee-klatch of like minded folks. So, I have a question, for any right-wingers or trolls who haven't found the courage to jump in: how is it that all you professed patriots and the pundits who ride you to riches (especially that lachrymose "I love my country" emotional masturbator) are willing to throw overboard one of the founding principals of this nation, that the "thumbscrew, like monarchy, be left in Europe?" (Thomas Paine, I believe) This was during the Revolutionary War when, you might say, the British Army posed an actual existential threat to the new nation. George Washington gave this order to his troops concerning the treatment of British and Hessian POWs:

"Treat them with humanity, and let them have no reason to Complain of our Copying the brutal example of the British Army in their treatment of our unfortunate brethren…. Provide everything necessary for them on the road." Remember, this was at a time when close to, and possibly more than, half the population of the Colonies was Tory. One of the things that tipped many of them into the Patriot camp was, demonstrably, the behavior of the British. One of their own officers wrote home to his father:

"Wherever our armies have marched, wherever they have encamped, every species of barbarity has been executed. We planted an irrevocable hatred wherever we went, which neither time nor measure will be able to eradicate." Think on that when pooh-poohing those of us who believe that torture has done us more harm than good, or accusing us of "wanting to read terrorists their Miranda rights."

Here is my source, which gives the argument far better than I.

Never underestimate Fox News's predilection for absurdism. They trot out a C level actress to support interrogations featured in a TV show. Nevertheless, I have to agree with her on this. If the CIA was doing interrogations just like they do on 24, that would make them FAKE interrogations, pure theatrics in which nobody gets harmed. From the mouths of dummies, the occasional nugget of wisdom falls, but it does take a lot of digging to find the valuable part.
