She's incapable of explaining why she thinks what she thinks about Pelosi because she does not think the US government should be held accountable for torture.

This si just incredible to me, that Fox has sunk this low in trying to hang onto their brain dead audience.

It would be one thing for these wingnuts to say that if Pelosi is shown to have had knowledge of these things, she should be held accountable by "the left" just the same as the Bush Amdinistration. They could reasonably try to point out some hypocrisy by those who ddin't hold her accountable.

But, they're actually trying to continue to ignore any responsibility on the part of the Bushies, while faking outrage at Pelosi.

Fox has just resigned themselves to being the information source for the stupidest people in the world.

I still don't get this whole Pelosi thing. Even if she did know about it, what could she have done about it? Nothing... This was in 2002 when the republicans ran Congress, and what could Congress have done about it? Nothing really, unless they passed a bill, like Congress did after dems took over, outlawing torture (as if they should have had to do this), but then was vetoed by W. What could she have done if she knew? N.O.T.H.I.N.G.

I think the Dems should call their bluff on this.

Pelosi, an accomplice? That's a stretch, but even if it's true, it does not absolve the Bushies one iota.

I say nail the bastards. If a few Democrats have to resign over it, so be it.

Then, open that giant can of festering Iraq War worms and investigate the lies they used to sell it. That's where all the good stuff is. I also think that's why Darth Cheney is flogging the torture issue so frantically... he's scared to death they'll turn their gaze onto his attempt to steal Iraq's Oil, and I don't think he can blame Pelosi for that.

Absolutely. Lay it all out there, just do it objectively. Let's not forget who was actually in control vs. in the moniortiy party and let's not forget all the jingo-facist red-scare like nonsense that was ogind on at the time. If she 'signed off' on it, fine, absolutely, she shoudl resign... right after Rove and Cheney are CONVICTED. But I'm getting tired of the "she didn't say anything" BS. (1) The info was classified. (2) Bush would not have listened. (3) It's more likely that she (or anyone else opposed) would have been publicly critisized and had their own careers ruined because their opponents were using arguments that they could not respond to BECAUSE THE INFO SUPPORTING THEIR ARGUMENT WAS CLASSIFIED!!! So yeah... we need to take a deep dive with this, and SOME Democratic heads may have to roll as well, but the media (in general) can not be trusted to treat this topic fairly.

          Absolutely correct.

The Republicans are apparently scared to death of an in-depth investigation, and they're trying to weasel their way out of it by threatening to take Pelosi down with them.

          Call their bluff, I say.

To quote Numbnuts Bush... Bring 'em on.

After 9/11 it was unanimous vote in congress and the senate to invade Iraq. Everyone in government had the same information to make this decision. After that it is clear that Pelosi was informed about the interrogation tecniques. It amazes me the short memory of the American public and members of congress. I see with oil prices shooting upward again the oil we stoled is going to be expensive.

So... how do you KNOW they're terrorists and not just some hapless schuck that had some personal enemy with a agrudge who sold him out? What, do you think that turban + beard + gun = terrorist? You see in AMERICA we have this thing called a TRIAL. It's one of those freedoms and protections that MAKE THIS A GREAT COIUNTRY.

If you would torture ANYONE then you are UN-American and stand in direct opposition to the Constitution of this country - the document and foundation of all the freedoms that you hold dear, and the PRINCIPLES that our gov't must abide by to defend those freedoms. You CANNOT torture someone to defend this country, because doing so IS a crime against THIS COUNTRY.

SO for your "efforts" to "defend" us, I call you a coward and a traitor.

No, it wasn't. Look it up.

Everyone in government had the same information to make this decision
That isn't even is the same zip code as truth, and has been debunked so many times I am not surprised that a wingnut like yourself still believes it.

After that it is clear that Pelosi was informed about the interrogation tecniques.
Were you in the classified briefings? If you were, and you are posting this, and it is true, you have just committed a felony. If you weren't there, you have no idea what was said and who was briefed about anything.

It amazes me the short memory of the American public and members of congress.
You mean like the right-wingnuts who have forgotten the entire administration of George W Bush that ended less than four months ago?

I see with oil prices shooting upward again the oil we stoled is going to be expensive.
"Stoled?" Didn't I see you in a movie once sitting in a tree playing a banjo?

I would waterboard these terroriest every ten minutes if it would save one of my fellow Americans
Which "terroriest" are those? The ones who have been tried and convicted? Oh, wait, there aren't any of those, except the ones Bill Clinton's Justice Department captured, tried and convicted, and they're in jail for the rest of their lives. I doubt waterboarding any of them would do anything useful, and it never would have, either. Waterboarding does not work.

          even you.
Don't do me any favors. I know when the proffered cure is worse than the disease, and yours is a prime example.

I wonder if this dingbat read the part about the CIA not being completely sure of its facts as to who was where and knew what.

She is probably more than aware of that little fact but neglects to mention it because heaven forbid, she might have to give that Liberal Democratic Socialista Nancy Pelosi the benefit of a doubt.

I'd like to pit this talking head against Pelosi's daughter.

Gee....can't Fox try to practice actual journalism ?

Secondly, the "chrons" that end in questions isn't journalism.

She wants to Pelosi to tell the truth or resign ? Yeah, right after the people responsible testify before congress and the American people.

Guess the right wing only wants to be voyeurs which is why they wanted to hear testimony about Bill and Monica

Hey I would like to cite something here in all seriousness.

I just took a glance over at the Huffington Post (which I hardly ever do), and clicking the 'All Blog Posts' link (because I can't stand reading the contrived and misleading headlines they attach to news stories and other fluff), there was a very recent minutes ago blog post from Harry Shearer (whom I like a lot and know to be a very concerned person in these matters), and he writes how its his impression that things are at present kind of backward regarding this torture and torture memo business... he observes that "we've definitely entered Mirror World" as a way of noting what he sees as a sort of backwards aspect in this matter.

      He writes...

"But now it's today, and Dick Cheney is telling everyone on television (with the possible exception of Billy Mays) that he wants more memos released. Lindsey Graham is doing the same thing in the Senate. More memos made public, Senator Graham suggests, will prove that torture, which isn't really torture, works, whatever "works" means."

And he contrasts that observation (fact really) with how President Obama and perhaps certain (perhaps many) Democrats are taking a completely different, even opposite tack, and he summarizes the whole thought in a single sentence that just about concludes his essay...

"So, to review, Cheney wants more stuff made public and Obama wants less stuff made public."

And I'd add that he's primarily referring to this torture and torture memo issue there, and to little or nothing else I believe.

I like Harry Shearer, and I do not think him wrong, but I have to ask rhetorically, do we really think the Republican media machine and it's CEO Dick Cheney, do we really think they are reckless and dumb and without plan and without strategy, and just following their worst instincts here, following them right off a cliff, do we really think these people are so stupid that they would cut their own throats and smile the whole time doing it?

And conversely I would ask, is President Obama really stupid and does he not know what he's doing, and is he terribly wrong here and just doesn't get it and is blind to what's smart and strategic and good sense, if not to what's right and wrong too?

That's about all I'd say here and now on the matter, other than to mention that experience has taught me to balk and consider things carefully, whenever I see evil, or any other opponent of mine, launch headlong and maniacally into some public relations campaign, which might in truth just be something to bait me, even goad me or provoke me, into arguing a side in a debate, a side on which I do not and cannot have all the facts, and have no recourse to the official record or to the details and particulars of matters that are held secret from the public, and are known only to certain government officials, of which Dick Cheney was formally, and President Obama is presently... I do not take any opponent too lightly, nor do I dismiss their plans and schemes as recklessness, or even think them without any plan at all, as if they would just fly by the seat of their pants in this manner: the devil does not do that, never... and it is the devil and evil we oppose here, Disk Cheney and the Republican media machine.

Anyway, enough of that, it's more than I wanted to say on this matter, which in truth is nothing I want to say at all, about torture or torture memos, or of the other things in this regard that Dick Cheney and the Republican media machine are working overtime and like maniacs, keeping alive.

I pause and balk at the devil's first move... I consider him always as scheming and planning, and I would much rather discover his schemes in the time it takes to do so, than rush too quickly and become a part of them.

Dem02020, Here is my theory. Obama does not get along all that great with Pelosi, so he is going to let her get hung out to dry. For her to hang out to dry, the republicans will say release all memos, pictures, and basically investigate everything just so they can be rid of Pelosi. Then Obama will open the flood gates with the reasoning this is what the congress wanted, republicans and democrats. Remember, even some of the fixed news guys are wanting special commissions just to get Pelosi. Flood gates open and if Pelosi winds up being swept away with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Tenet, Rice, Rove, etc., Obama no longer has to deal with Pelosi and our federal prisons get some new blood in them. Maybe Cheney can share a cell with Sheikh Khalid. I am no expert on the law to know if Pelosi is lying did she break any laws? But if she did lie, it will get her out of the Speaker role and maybe voted out of office in 2010.

      Have I got this right?
When George and Dick knew about it...
It wasn't torture. It was enhanced interrogation.

      When Nancy knew about it...
It wasn't enhanced interrogation. It was torture.

Nancy should resign because she was an accomplice to torture.

George and Dick should get medals for signing off on enhanced interrogation.

Is it any wonder that fewer and fewer people are willing to call themselves Republicans?

um, yeah... so? was she briefed on the "enhanced interrogation techniques" while she was speaker? no... she was briefed in her FIRST year in the house in 2002. and she wasnt even told what the techniques were. how does that constitute her to resign, or to even be a liar and having to "tell the truth"? she doesnt know the truth... she said that she was briefed, but was never specifically told if waterboarding was done.

oh and i love how fox news' source is the newspaper owned by rupert murdoch. what kind of source is that? god for bid msnbc or cnn use the new york times since they are supposedly so liberal, but at least time warner and GE dont own the new york times. poeple like bill oreilly only like to suspect and theorize that either are "in bed together".
