Keep trying, Dick. The right wing noise machine has been trying to hammer Pelosi in a coordinated effort.

The trouble is that they look so silly asking everyone from the Democratic party to step down: Geithner, Murtha, Pelosi, Napolitano, ...

Pelosi has looked stupid the way her story is changing day to day. Actually stupid is probably the wrong word to use , liar might be more appropiate.

And one question, do you think the dems would call for rep resignations if they repeatedly tried to hire tax cheats, like Obama did. But I guess the reason that dems don't mind higher taxes is because they don't pay them.

Dick Morris needs to shut his pie hole until he can pay up on his back taxes. Or maybe he can help us like he did Kenya. They're still having court hearings with an interim government in place since their last election.

Hahaha. It has not been demonstrated that Pelosi did anything wrong here. Morris is jumping the gun big time. Let's get all of this out in the open before we start making stupid comments like that.

How funny it is that the only person (Pelosi) so far the Republicans acknowledge they want held accountable for torture is someone who alledgedly tacitly let the Bush Administration execute their own top secret policy. This would be utterly surreal if it wasn't so transparently self-serving of the Republican scoundrels.

Considering Pelosi's only other real choice would be to expose the secret to others somehow, she would have been tried for high treason in the press and the conservative echosphere. Give me a freaking break.

I think you're right that Pelosi really couldn't do anything about the situation anyway during the Bush administration. However, once the Dems attained the congressional majority, I think she had an obligation to investigate possible war crimes and, if justified, lead the prosecution of guilty parties. At the time, she claimed impeachment was "off the table", which - just as ceding power to declare war to Bush - was dereliction of duty as far as I'm concerned.

If Nancy stepped down or was forced out, it wouldn't bring tears to my eyes. In fact, she's become more of a liability as a distraction and a diversion from a general public condemnation of Bush/Cheney than she is ANY kind of asset to the country.

If she does step down, too bad this would now be seen as a win for the GOP. That may be the trap set for the Dems. Either keep her and her apparently unpopular reign as Speaker, or dump her and give the Republicans a small victory on an issue related to national security.

I am not sure how her stepping down might affect domestic issues, health care reform in particular. Might we end up with a more progressive Speaker? I am open to a change. Besides, I am not sure the GOP will, in the end, come out ahead on national security or the whole torture issue.

It's real easy to get caught up in the ourside/theirside dynamics of this. But the bottom line is that the party with the better ideas and work ethic will win in the end, because all citizens are affected by their actions. Right now, Pelosi - from what I have seen - has not been singularly responsible for positive change in any way. Nor has she bolstered the strenght of congressional Democrats, on whom I rely to promote my own ideologies.

In other words, to me and people who share my philosophies, Pelosi is more valuable as a sacrifice, an indication that Democrats/liberals aren't partisan fanatics at all, but interested in the improvement of our government foremost.

I posted this in the following thread:
      http://mediamatters.org/research/200905130032

"So if the first Bybee memo was written in Aug 2002 stating that: "Congress may no more regulate the President's ability to detain and interrogate enemy combatants than it may regulate his ability to direct troop movements on the battlefield" and Pelosi was supposedly briefed in Sept 2002, what recourse did she have? The DoJ memo states that she can't do crap to stop torture and it's a secret program so revealing it to the public would have been against the law."

Actually, America would be much better served if Dick "Toe-Sucker" Morris would go somewhere and drink Drano.

I do not get why he is considered an expert or credible or worth listening to about anything. I do not watch FOX News much, and very rarely see the shows he is on, but whenever he is on, I change the channel.

But wait, how can this be a secret plan of the Obama administration to get her to step down so they can replace her if it's only rightwingers calling for her removal?

Whoa, wait a second, Dick... the reason Bin Laden wasn't killed was because Clinton lived and breathed impeachment for two years? Fine, let's go with that.

So, if the Republicans hadn't hounded and distracted Clinton, Bin Laden would be long dead and 9/11 would have never happened. Then I guess everything has been Republicans' fault.

Thanks, Dick. Now what were you saying about Nancy?

We are missing the big story, here.

Dick Morris is saying that Pelosi will not be able to devote herself to President Obama's legislative agenda, and for that reason it is in the nation's best interest for her to step down. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that he is saying that President Obama's legislative agenda is in the best interest of the nation, isn't he?

The best interest in America is for dick Morris to move to Cuba. This guys is a total hack. Even O'Reilly had to correct one of his lies this week. That's how bad the lie was that even Billo wouldn't let it pass.

Why is Pelosi the only one on the hook for these CIA briefings which may or may not have taken place? Her's isn't the only name on the list. What about all the Republicans? Does Morris think they should step down? More importantly as many others have said how can you defend the Bush admin and the use of torture while simultaneously calling for Pelosi to resign because she might have known about it? Pick a side Dick. Oh wait. That's what he is doing.

If Pelosi did know about the truth about torture then she should resign -- so I agree with Morris. I also agree he should shut his pie hole useless bag of mostly water he is.
