The trouble is that they look so silly asking everyone from the Democratic party to step down: Geithner, Murtha, Pelosi, Napolitano, ...
And one question, do you think the dems would call for rep resignations if they repeatedly tried to hire tax cheats, like Obama did. But I guess the reason that dems don't mind higher taxes is because they don't pay them.
How funny it is that the only person (Pelosi) so far the Republicans acknowledge they want held accountable for torture is someone who alledgedly tacitly let the Bush Administration execute their own top secret policy. This would be utterly surreal if it wasn't so transparently self-serving of the Republican scoundrels.
Considering Pelosi's only other real choice would be to expose the secret to others somehow, she would have been tried for high treason in the press and the conservative echosphere. Give me a freaking break.
If Nancy stepped down or was forced out, it wouldn't bring tears to my eyes. In fact, she's become more of a liability as a distraction and a diversion from a general public condemnation of Bush/Cheney than she is ANY kind of asset to the country.
I am not sure how her stepping down might affect domestic issues, health care reform in particular. Might we end up with a more progressive Speaker? I am open to a change. Besides, I am not sure the GOP will, in the end, come out ahead on national security or the whole torture issue.
In other words, to me and people who share my philosophies, Pelosi is more valuable as a sacrifice, an indication that Democrats/liberals aren't partisan fanatics at all, but interested in the improvement of our government foremost.

"So if the first Bybee memo was written in Aug 2002 stating that: "Congress may no more regulate the President's ability to detain and interrogate enemy combatants than it may regulate his ability to direct troop movements on the battlefield" and Pelosi was supposedly briefed in Sept 2002, what recourse did she have? The DoJ memo states that she can't do crap to stop torture and it's a secret program so revealing it to the public would have been against the law."
So, if the Republicans hadn't hounded and distracted Clinton, Bin Laden would be long dead and 9/11 would have never happened. Then I guess everything has been Republicans' fault.
Thanks, Dick. Now what were you saying about Nancy?
Dick Morris is saying that Pelosi will not be able to devote herself to President Obama's legislative agenda, and for that reason it is in the nation's best interest for her to step down. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that he is saying that President Obama's legislative agenda is in the best interest of the nation, isn't he?
This guy looks and sounds like a muppet.
