Anal poisoning? Isn't that on Dobson's list of things that will be protected by the Hate Crimes Bill?

And Wanda Sykes was supposed to feel guilty because......?

Well, it certainly was tasteless. Probably one of those things he does intentionally to gnerate comments on his show. It was tastelss the other day, and repeating it doesn't seem to make any sense unless he is just tweaking his critics.

That's certainly part of it. He also still regrets missing the flight and is bitter about his failing kidneys.

I still don't understand how Lushbo the Hut repeatedly making a fool of himself is always as explained as "tweaking his critics" or "tweaking the left". He's obviously a disturbed person, with some strange issues, with his constant references to bending over and grabbing his ankles and coprophilia themes.

I'd guess his hatred and jealousy of Obama and others stems from the fact that Rush's dream is to be followed around by sycophants. He has his disciples, but they're just the people across the country who have nothing to do all day when all the normal productive people are working.

Yeah, the 'he's just tweaking' excuse is a strange one. You'd think Cheney's pick to head the GOP would be more about advocating what America needs and less about engaging in pure sycophancy.

If you look at my comment, I'm not making excuses for him. The first line is "Well, it certainly was tasteless" - - Then I go on to say "It was tastelss the other day, and repeating it doesn't seem to make any sense..."

Talk about sycophancy. Do you guys go around patting echother on the back all day, or have I somehow walked into a new ritual?

I interpreted your post to mean that Rush's comment makes sense if he's just tweaking his critics. No big deal really. I was replying more to Col.'s sentiment and less to your post.

Well the motive for repeating a bombed joke makes more sense in that perspective. The comment itself is still tastless and a sloppy bit of "humor" that doesn't seem to work even a little bit.

It works for him, though. Rush is conservative, and conservative "humor" consists solely of words that sound funny and references to private body parts and functions. There is no conservative comedic engineering to have the words create a humorous context of a familiar subject. Think Richard Pryor without any social references. Think Monty Python sans 'proper' British society. It's like back when the network producers discovered they could use the word "ass" on tv. He doesn't really get it, but when he hears the trigger word, he laughs because it must be funny.

It's people like Rush for whom sitcom laugh-tracks were devised.

                      Lovely post. I'm giving it a 9.8.

Wasn't there a study showing that having an authoritarian-follower personality tracks with an inability to understand irony? I've noticed it's pretty consistent among wingers that they use the term "sarcasm" as a synonym for "invective." They really appear to have no clue what it means, or about wit in general.

I would imagine that Rush was one of those guys in high school that the jocks stuffed into lockers. He was probably a big, pudgy, obnoxious nerd who couldn't get a date.

What he's doing to the country now may be, in his mind, revenge for the insults he suffered as a teenager, real or imagined.

Well, since we conservatives are such homophobes, he throws that out there immediately following some perceived "outrage" by the left so that we can associate the action of the libearals with somthing we consider unnatural and filthy. Showmanship 101.

Media clips are like animal training too. We try to refine the stimulus to provoke a response. And yet the whole process, and this website, generate lots of interest and revenue. Just look at US discussing the matter right now. We are all subject to the stimulus-response pattern. It's just a question of whether we recognize it or not. If we do, we can at least interrupt the cycle once in a while and hatch an independant thought. 8P

Limbaugh's brand of anal poisoning showmanship and operational chaos may somehow pad his wallet, but I think it's fairly safe to assume that he's been costing the GOP votes. By all means, keep refining the stimulus to provoke a response. It works for me.

So you just string a bunch of words together and PRETEND they make sense. What would preclude independent thought when responding to the stimulus of an inane post? Are you implying that it is a PROGRAMMED response? What exactly is your evidence THAT is true? Your post was ludicrous on the face of it

Oh. Well in that case it isn't really a generalization. I guess I misunderstood. I thought it was generally accepted that conservatives were racist homophobic robots controlled by the industrial-media complex or else in on the conspiracy. =)

Nah, we have some rational conservatives here. Some are even funny, on purpose.
Research a bit on neocons. They seem to be the loud ones with ideas that benifit less than 10% of our population. What they did to the Republicans amounts to a romantic ravishment. Likewise now that the rhetorical baby(s) are born, contact and support have become elusive.
