FLASHBACK - From Franklin Foer's May 31, 2004, New York profile of Miller:

For critics of the Iraq war, the downfall of Ahmad Chalabi occasioned a hearty, unapologetic outpouring of Schadenfreude-a loud cheer for a well-deserved knee to the administration's gut. In fact, it was possible to detect a bit of this spirit on the front page of the New York Times. On May 21, the editors arrayed contrasting images of the banker turned freedom fighter turned putative Iranian spy. Here he is smirking behind Laura Bush in the House of Representatives gallery as the president delivers his State of the Union address. There he is looking bleary and sweaty, after Iraqi police stormed his home and office in the middle of the night. An analysis by David Sanger went so far as to name names of individuals who had associated themselves with the discredited leader of the Iraqi National Congress. The list, he wrote, included "many of the men who came to dominate the top ranks of the Bush administration . . . Donald H. Rumsfeld, Paul D. Wolfowitz, Douglas J. Feith, Richard L. Armitage, Elliott Abrams and Zalmay M. Khalilzad, among others."

The phrase "among others" is a highly evocative one. Because that list of credulous Chalabi allies could include the New York Times' own reporter, Judith Miller. During the winter of 2001 and throughout 2002, Miller produced a series of stunning stories about Saddam Hussein's ambition and capacity to produce weapons of mass destruction, based largely on information provided by Chalabi and his allies-almost all of which have turned out to be stunningly inaccurate.

She should first disclose what her role was in covering the Plame story before her opinions are given any weight.

and she called chalabi a confidential source. the problem is that chalabi had an agenda, which was to get this country to invade iraq. she also agreed to keep scooter libby's identity a secret when he was handing her information about valerie plame. it's really no coincidence that bush, cheney, rove, and libby are birds of a feather. they're all the same garbage who put the outing of a cia agent ahead of the security of the country, in order to get revenge on her husband for telling the truth.

Umm, hasn't this woman been discredited about just about anything and everything she ever did?

Duh, Mag. She's appearing as an expert on Fox, isn't she? What do you think qualified her?

Not only that. Miller is trotted out as the token liberal on some panels. What a joke. Fox is a fraud. I can't believe people even watch it.

Like a fictional mommy and daddy, Fox exists to give pablum to the fear ridden masses whose "America" is not the their liking (reality having a liberal bias thanks Colbert). It's the news equivalent of showing Ozzie & Harriet 24/7 and calling it the pantheon of social order.

OK, isn't it well beyond the time that someone should've b l o w n up FOX "news" HQ?
I mean they have been a propaganda arm of the republican army ever since they started.

They're just an (essentially) enormous extension of Rush's, etc., network. And a huge part of the fact that some large number of crazy (and really quite frightening) right wingers have it in for the president, instead of giving him any benefit of doubt.

this is horribly ugly-it's bad enough that here in Chicago the GOP is essentially on from 2:00 AM until 2:00 PM (then back on from 6 to Midnight) on one of the larger AM stations.

Cleary these people (FOX, WLS supporters) have trouble thinking for themselves (though maybe that's starting to change?)
