EMBED

From the May 16 edition of Fox News Watch:

SCOTT: The photo on the front page of The New York Times showing U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan has gotten a lot of comments this week. One soldier seen in his boxers, leading many to ask why the Times even decided to run the photo.

[...]

SCOTT: Your thought, Jim?

PINKERTON: Well, let's just ask ourselves: If Jesse Jackson were photographed in pink underwear --

THOMAS: Ew.

PINKERTON: -- would the Times -- or Al Sharpton or David Dinkins or Barack Obama, would the Times ever use it on the front page? And the answer is: of course not.

THOMAS: Well, Obama is always photographed naked from the waist up.

PINKERTON: The point is, the Times would -- the Times feels a certain license to make what they think of as gentle fun of the military on the front page. And having said that, so clearly, that's where the Times is coming from -- liberal, liberal --

VOICE: Oh, no, no, no.

PINKERTON: But, it was a good picture. It is kind of funny with the "I love New York" thing. I can see why the New York papers -- a New York paper would like that. And I must say I think back to the scene in the film Flags of Our Fathers, about the Marines who raised the flag at Iwo Jima, and one of them -- mothers says, "I recognize my son up there," and says: "Well, you know, It's his bottom," says, "Look, I wiped that bottom when he was young. I know my son." And in fact, it was one of the flag-wavers, flag-raisers.

newflash to thse buffoons. IT is 2009, not 1943. Times have changed. A soldier is not a President or a mayor. He is a soldier. These people just want to give the NYT a hard time when there is nothing there. Kinda like O'Reilly and GE.

The good thing is they wasted 4 minutes of airtime.

It's funny Pinky brings up Flags of Our Fathers. Eastwood and the writer made it a point to show how even then the soldiers were being used as a PR tentpole for the war effort. Pinky conveniently forgot that.

I'm not sure I'd consider the time wasted. I DID keep them from mucking up any more-important issues, so I judge this drivel to be a good thing.

It seems like Pinkerton is saying that black liberals are held to a different standard than every other group by the NYT. When you consider the context of this discussion it becomes obvious Pinkerton has a problem with the NYT and black liberals. Kind of strange considering they were discussing, in his own words, "a good picture........I can see....why....a New York paper would like that." Me thinks Jim Pinkerton has a problem with African Americans, especially liberal types. Me also thinks Jim Pinkerton has no clue he has a problem with African Americans. Just ask him! If the soldier had been black his statement might have made more sense.

Pink Stinketon needs to watch Flags of Our Fathers again. Because it was NOT, in fact, her son raising that flag. They simply told her that to make her feel better because her son was dead.
Jeesh. He can't even get that right.

Why does fox news always set themselves up for something dealing with race? Is it because they always bring on guest and host who feel that the media is pampering Obama because hes black....is the litmus test for fox news that you have to be racist, black face, racial ignorant, or just plain ignorant to get a job there?

No clue what the argument or his argument is....just some nonsense to have brainstorming session on how to deem the paper liberal, biased, and illegitimate. Also I don't the media would be able to get anywhere near any of the people he named while they are in their pajamas and hes they would have showed it if it was a black soldier.

Also did that guy mean naked from the waist up....commenting on the fact they always get pictures of Obama with his shirt off?

Wow. I'm really not sure whether to go after Pinkerton's comments more because he was clearly hellbent on interjecting race into a conversation that had nothing to do with race, or simply make fun of him for being an idiot.
