I didn't see The Daily Show w/ newt gingrich last night, because I never watch that show (but I did see The Colbert Report last night), and so seeing this item above, it's news to me that newt was on Jon Stewart's show... and one of the reasons I never watch Jon Stewart is because he lamely promotes not only Republican media hacks and Bush administration hacks, but in this newt example, any old Republican hack whatsoever... and that's what Jon does, he lamely promotes them, he gives them an essentially unchallenged and unquestioned platform to say whatever they like on his show... and by lamely promotes, I mean he keeps showing the cover of their book or referencing whatever it is they're there to sell, and by unchallenged and unquestioned, I mean he is less confrontational or challenging than any cable television commentary show would ever be : true, just look at last night's show online (as I did after I saw this item above), it's sad, not only would every and any CNN or MSNBC show have questioned newt harder than Jon did, but Fox News Channel too would have would have held newt's sales pitch (selling himself essentially) to a sharper edge than did Jon Stewart... I really believe that!

Contrast this to Stephen Colbert, who is prepared and quick and funny and biting and insightful, and when media hacks or Republican stooges go on his show, he holds them truly accountable, he throws their own deeds and words right in their faces, and it's all fair and it's funny and satirical and biting and it makes for awesome political commentary and debate!

And of course, because they know they will be held accountable, these Republican hacks and stooges usually stay away from The Colbert Report, or don't return after being exposed by Stephen... and that's no loss to us, because Stephen still mercilessly skewers them in abstentia... Jon Stewart, he's worse than wolf blitzer when it comes to holding someone's feet to the fire (and JS is only slightly funnier than wolf)... well, enough of that negative stuff, but it just makes me sick to see newt sell himself and his book (or actually Jon sell it for him, as it's Jon repeatedly holding it up for a close-up and repeatedly saying the title of the book), it makes me sick to see that Republican pig and fraud just having his way right there in the face of the weak and lame and easy Jon Stewart...

Go on The Colbert Report newt!

      Take that acid test!

Not a chance... the truth hurts these bastids, and that's they get and what we get when Stephen Colbert interviews them.

As far as Jon Stewart goes, and his interview of newt gingrinch?

As I said, I just looked at the thing online, and newt, he gives us his insights into why Republicans lost so much political capital and fell from such grace with the American People, specifically with reference to the 2006 and 2008 elections (if you saw the show then you'll remember this I guess, and if you watch it online, then please note this), newt spins all of the losses in 2006 and 2008 on $4 a gallon gasoline, and on the meltdown of the economy and (get this) on Republicans spending money like they were "liberal Democrats" (that's what he said are the reasons Republicans lost so much standing with the American People), and he said that as long as Republicans were spending money like Democrats, well the American People figured they might as well just elect the real thing then...

And then he grins his jack-o-lantern grin from his pumpkin-like face at how funny was the lie he just told and got away with, and the lame and weak and easy and corrupted Jon Stewart, he just sits there stupidly, and doesn't challenge or even question what newt just said!

Now, I just said newt lied, because he did... because if newt gives a reason why Republicans are so hated by the American People right now, and why they lost so much political power in the 2006 and 2008 national elections, and he fails to say either or both of the words BUSH and IRAQ, then he's a liar!

      BUSH and IRAQ!

That's what Republicans are running from, when they spin the 2006 and 2008 elections that tossed them from power, tossed by the American People...

That's the truth, and Colbert I'm sure would have immediately jammed it into newt's pumpkin jack-o-lantern grinning face, the moment he spun away from that truth... Jon Stewart, he just sat there, chortling and snorting, waiting for his next que to hold up newt's book, and say "thank you my friend for coming back, its always a pleasure, we look forward to your next visit"

Even wolf blitzer is sharper and tougher than that.

        Easy, Tucker.

But seriously, I'll give you points that the Newt interview wasn't what I hoped it would be. Then again I'm not a fan of Colbert's interviews because by the very nature of the show he can't break character.

Either way, I'm a fan of both shows.

Jon challenged what he said in subtle ways. Are you sure you watched it?

The Pelosi bashing continues unabated b/c who else but JS will speak truth to power? If we have forgotten, Mika and Willie-- the lapdogs of this intrepid ex-politician with access to intelligence exceeding senators on the intelligence committee, u know people like Feingold-- will be sure to remind us between gratuitous plugs of Joe's new book. The most amusing thing about all of this is how MSNBC's evening programs are able to debunk the various talking points on a nightly basis without once referring to Morning joe. Why should they since every critique the morning gang has to offer regurgitates pts made by Rush and Fox?

I did notice that Kieth Olbermann got in a dig at Joe Scarborough without mentioning his name last night. As part of a list of asinine Republican comments, he included "That they only waterboarded people who were involved in planning 9/11", which Joe had said yesterday morning.

Of course, some other Republican toadie may have said it, too, since Joe is a conduit for Republican talking points.

Hyperbole certainly does sell, Newt's well aware of that and always has. The question is whether or not there's still an audience to buy into it.

When you really listen to the words that are actually being said, there's really nothing there at all...
