After Harry Reid's bizarre comment about "not releasing terrorists in America", the Republican bedwetters have apparently won this debate.

Okay, I wasn't hallucinating when I saw that last night. Someone spiked his cool aide.

I'm afraid that you are correct.

        The Dems are losing me.

Krauthammer's celebration of Guantanamo as a loophole for getting around rights falls short. It assumes that there are no laws outside of the United States.

It bears repeating. American rights tend to line up nicely with human rights. It's because they're both based on reason, not nationality. Reason does not stop at any nation's border. Violating someone's rights on an island outside of your own borders does not make the act of violation any less wrong.

K-Hamma really sums up the view of a lot of conservatives. I know he's trying to be a little funny, but it's the glamorization and romanticization of war and violence, usually by those who have avoided the reality of those things, that keeps the flag-waving zombies all choked up about these things.

I do enjoy how much effort CK puts in to reinforcing the theme of Dems being weak on defense vs. the "strong" Repubs, even asserting that Jim Webb is the de facto voice for the Dems by virtue of having served in the Reagan cabinet.

Let's all of us be sure to remember and keep repeating that NONE of the people being held at Gitmo are guilty of anything.

They are all being held as suspects. NONE of them have been found guilty of anything.
