How's THAT for some good old fashion conservative up-is-downism?
O'Reilly is in the middle. Tin-can Limbaugh is on the left. and that moronic imbecile Glenn Beck is on the right.
Have you listened to Walter's latel..."Well, you know. I never give my own opinion.." is she for real. Might as well have been Obama's campaign manager.
Here's another hint since you aren't getting it: just because someone is 'popular' doesn't automatically make that person intelligent or GASP! correct. To put it to you in simple terms, lots of stupid people watch Fox and believe their propaganda as the gospel and not so many other people - who are intelligent and wish for the truth - watch MSNBC.
Now does that help ya?
what olberman does is an attempt to mimic o'reilly's over-blown, self-righteous, bottom-of-the-barrel, lowest-common-denominator pandering, but directed from the nominal left of the political spectrum, as opposed to o'reilly's fanatical, hateful, deceptive, offensive take from the right.
the idea is, there are a lot of people out there who need to be told how to think, and not all of them (but most of them) are "right-wing," so msnbc is content to take the ratings they can get by throwing up a nominal left-winger of the same mold as o'reilly.
the reason o'reilly's show is three times as successful is not that there are three times as many conservatives who own televisions, but that there are three times as many stupid conservatives who own televisions. that, and conservatives seem to be much more keen on having their own views shouted at them every day of the week, maybe it makes them feel more comfortable. maybe that's a hint that, without the constant reinforcement, they might have time to question their beliefs?
