Limbaugh goes after "country-club types" whose "wives nag them about abortion" and who want to get rid of the "social plank that has ensured victory for the Republican Party."

"... a candidate that will rise out of the muck." Could it be the real messiah?

Everything Limbaugh says is nuts. He speaks of blue bloods, like the Santa Monica country club group that supported Ronald Reagan? Rush Limbaugh was co-opted to grow the Republican Party to include those who would have supported either a moderate Democrat, or a Rockefeller Republican.

No wonder he is so angry with the Republicans - he has been had.

Well, if anybody's political analysis and predictive power can be trusted, it's Rush Limbaugh's. His track record is nearly flawless.

I mean, okay, he opposed McCain and until he won the Republic nomination, but then Rush came around and supported McCain right up until the day he lost the general election. And that Operation Chaos plan in which he asked his listeners to vote for Clinton? Worked like a charm, right up until Obama won the Democratic nomination and presidency. And accusing Michael J. Fox of exaggerating his Parkinson's symptoms paid off beautifully except for the part about McCaskill winning.

But those are really nitpicking, trivial exceptions. I do hope Fox News and other media will continue to promote Mr. Limbaugh's time tested political forecasting and incisive analysis.

Hilarious, hearing somebody as out-of-touch as Lush advise his out-of-touch party on how to become more relevant.

This multi-millionaire simpleton uses "New England Bluebloods" to describe educated people as elite country-clubbers, and uses "social plank" as code for the religious extremist wing of the GOP that the party desperately clings to and manipulates in order to keep the party viable.

I want nothing more than for the GOP to find that magical candidate who rises from the muck to fit Rush's requirements. Sarah Palin came close, but I think the Republican Messiah will be a stupider, more dishonest, less qualified and more detached from reality version of Palin.I'm sure any of those chumps with the tea bags hanging off their hats would qualify.

Now it's the blue bloods who are at fault?
You gotta give it to him, he's very skilled at pointing his finger at everyone except himself and his lapdog followers.

Rush and the blue bloods he holds in such contempt are very similar--stinking rich with huge mansions they call home. The main difference? The blue bloods served their country and all Rush does is talk and take.

I think what we may be seeing here is the Country Club Republicans finally having to pay the price for the Faustian bargain they made years ago with the Evangelical Troglodytes and Bigots they have courted for so long.

They cobbled together a grotesque Frankenstein monster comprised of religious nutbags, rich people who felt victimized by the tax code and Southern racists who resented the Civil Rights movement.

The monster appears to be turning on its masters now, and the results may not be pretty.

The Republican party is a mess right now becasue they are attempting to do their once-a-generation catching up to, but still remaining slightly behind, where mainstream society has moved; and the "real conservatives" (reactionaries) are pulling back, as usual.

It must be tough to be conservtaive. The world just keeps moving on without you, and the best you can do is accpet the changes that the liberals of the PREVIOUS generations brought about, while trying endlessly to stand in the way of even more progress while the world mercelessly marches on. You will always be on the bottom side of the bell curve of history. You will always be in a constant state of dying.

First thing, you don't insult probably one of the best members of your own party, that being Colin Powell. I mean, look at Rush go after him, asking what has Powell done for the republican party and all. I mean, we'll take him in the democratic party if he wants to switch sides. Who couldn't use a compassionate, intelligent, war hero that most of America LOVES? Republicans are stupid to go after Powell. I think that he alone could swing elections if he were willing to do so. I also think that if he wanted to, he could be President, very easily. I think Obama should offer him a position in his administration. Maybe get rid of Gates, and place Powell as SECDEF. Although, Gates is doing a good job as well.

Powell would make a good president. One of very few Republican's I'd vote for. He's not a reactionary, like Rush. And for that he's mocked, even though that's what makes him electable. Does Rush really think they can win with Palin? Or Jindal? Or Huckabee? I'd LOVE to see them go up against Obama. And when the get TROUNCED in an almost '84 Reaganesque way, I'll look forward to Rush's reaction. (Go farther in the wrong direction, even faster! is what I'm guessing.)

(And no, I don't seriously ee Obama getting 48 states + DC, I'm just saying... 400+ EV's is not out of reach.)

powell has baggage from being a good Republican soldier. He knowingly lied to the UN about evidence of WMD in Iraq, and he first came to the attention of the GOP when he attempted to cover up the My Lai massacre. The country is a better place now precisely because Powell was incompetent at covering up.

Powell decided not to run for president because of death threats. The idiot GOP contingent that is attacking Powell now is the same one that is outraged at any African-American being President -- even one from their own party.

I think we'd forgive the whole UN thing, asuming that he wasn't preaching about more of the same, foreign policy-wise, the way McCain and Palin were.

As for the death threats? I don't mean to bach Powell... and he's knows his party well, I guess... But Obama faces the same threat, possibly more so for being an eloquant liberal democrat (JFK anyone?) and yet he ran. And he's been publiclly visable. So who's shown more courage between the two?

Eh. I still think he make a good pres, and I think he'd be a good addition to Obama's cabinet - just not as SoS!

Steele is thier token black guy on the throne. Palin was their token woman. They are both idiots. I think they really hate both of them but they will continue to make fools of themselves instead of admitting what an embarrassing drag they both are.

Notice how the Conservative talking heads are now blaming the Republican Party for "their own" failures. Limbaugh, Hannity and they array of nutz have put the R-Party to blame, not their 1800's approach to the world.
AGAIN, AGAIN, I believe it is time for the Conservatives to start their own party. Palin and her hubby as President and Joe the Ex-Conservative Non-Plumber as VP. Then Rush can pull the strings without someone say "Rush, you are wrong". Wait, that is just like now.

Spineless Repubs. You are getting as bad as the Spineless Dems.
Ried, Pelosi, listen up...with all this new math going around, 59 is more than 40...use it. Just ask yourself, What Would Rush Do?

The really sad part is... as hopeless as the Republicans are right now, the Democrats could still piddle around and hand everything right back to them.

The big advantage the Republicans have is their uncanny ability to manipulate the Media and dominate the debate, even from their Minority status.

The fact that so much time is being wasted on this Nancy Pelosi "scandal" is a prime example.

So, to sum up... the Republican Party is a mess because the 'base' is basically a mix of uneducated, backward, ignorant fools who despise education and those who have it.

I mean... really... can you really picture Colin Powell in the company of the Palinites? Can you picture him standing on the stage at one of those 'freedom' concerts with the usual loser suspects?

And he speaks again. I think its great that he keeps opening his mouth and turning more people away from the Republican party. Steele needs to keep talking also because between the two of them and Hannity and Beck there will only be 4 people left that think like they do. What a joke.

ensured victory for the Republican Party."

EnSURED? Does he KNOW what that word means? Has he been vacationing in a cave in Sri Lanka the past two elections? How detached from reality can you be to talk about ensured GOP victory?

Well, this is Rush, after all. Reality has never been his strong suit. And to be honest, he doesn't even care. As long as he has his $400 million contract - putting over a thousand Clear Channel employees 'on the beach', I might add - and his 12-mansion compound, cars, and jet, reality can kiss his ass.
