I wonder if Krauthammer is against that liberal ADA law, too.

Justice ought to be blind but it is not.Far too often do people of wealth and fame buy justice on their behalf.
Maybe a little bit of empathy should be considered.

        I couldn't agree more.
This pontificating putz ignores the reality of an unequal justice system in which the content of your wallet determines your guilt or innocence.

One stinking word. Soon the Rove Rangers and the 500 guys in a room at the Heritage Foundation will be breaking down the syllables to find a smear. Good work gents, and an exceptional use of an education.

Empathy is the capability to share your feelings and understand another's emotion and feelings. It is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes," or in some way experience what the other person is feeling. Empathy does not necessarily imply compassion, sympathy, or empathic concern because this capacity can be present in context of compassionate or cruel behavior.

We sure did need MLK. Look at who is in the company of JFK, Lyndon B. Johnson. etc.., etc..

Did you really say that empathy does not imply empathetic concerns?

I said as in the dictionary meaning that empathy can be to sympathize or apathize-Apathy is a psychologicalPsychology (from Greek: ψυχή, psukhē, "spirit, soul"; and λόγος, logos, "knowledge") is both an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental processes and behavior. Psychologists study such phenomena as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity, including issues related to daily life—e.g. family, education, ...psychological term for a state of indifference — where an individual is unresponsive or "indifferent" to aspects of emotional, social, or physical life. Clinical apathy is considered to be at an elevated level, while a moderate level might be considered depressionClinical depression (also called major depressive disorder, or unipolar depression when compared to bipolar disorder) is a state of intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive to an individual's social functioning and/or activities of daily living. Although a low mood or state of dejection that does not affect functioning ...depression, and an extreme level could be diagnosed as a dissociative disorderDissociative DisordersDissociative Disorders, ( DSM-IV, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition) are defined as conditions that involve disruptions or breakdowns of memory, awareness, identity and/or perception. The hypothesis is that symptoms can result, to the extent of interfering with a person's general functioning, when one or more of these functions is disrupted. The four dissociative disorders listed in the DSM IV TR are as follows: * Depersonalization disorder ...dissociative disorder

So to empathize with one point of view is to apathize with another. There will be times when the Dems and Reps are in favor of the empathy and the party who is not will be the apathizer. All of America will benefit from the decisions that we have elected individuals to make though. In this case appointed.

I agree with your comment..many critics describe it more so as sympathy which it is not.In the context of a judge I would say it means put on the blindfold and not make a decision based on any biases that you have..being objective by seeing all views not just one side!!!
I doubt that Krauthhammer had anything good to say about MLK Jr back in the 60's.As someone old enough to remember the 50's and 60's struggle for Civil Rights,I remember him being reviled and attacked by many as a troublemaker ,as a communist,etc...sounds a little like how right wingers attack the president now!!I am positive that Dr. King would applaud both The President and this nominee despite what Krathhammer is saying!!!!

It's a typical Propaganda tactic to commandeer something said or done by your opponent's heroes and use it against them. Rush Limbaugh does it frequently when he cites JFK's tax cuts... even though most modern Republicans would get the vapors if they had to go back to Kennedy's tax rates.
