Exactly. But any competent politician should realize that politics is about compromise and also that Obama isn't going to give us a Judicial Ann Coutler (Fmr. Judge Roy Moore maybe?) anymore than Bush was going to give us another Ginsburg. So the reasonable course of action (aside from be the one that conservatives NEVER take) would be to take a good look at this nomination, relaize that she IS in fact a MODERATE, reliaze that this is as good as it gets, and reward Obama's moderate pick with a swift confrimation. That way the NEXT TIME(like when Ginsburg steps down?) if he knows that a moderate will glide through where a RADICAL ACTIVIST will face a fight, he'd be that much more likely to pick anbother moderate. But then nobady ever accused these guys of being reasonable or even RATIONAL, for that matter.

That's a big 10-4. Rachel Maddow pointed out all sorts of moderate positions Sotomayor has ruled on and noted the same thing - that the right won't even bother looking. Instead we get idiots like Krikorian who are making an issue about why they are being forced to pronounce her name correctly. It's pretty obvious they never intended to review her record, just like they never intended to review the stimulus package. I'm betting when the confirmation hearings end we'll see all sorts of right wingers crying about how Obama never gave them enough time to vet her properly.

Seems like she is among the best and brightest out there. Good law career. Been sitting on the bench for a number of years (they don't just hand those appointments out). Graduated top of her class in law school and undergrad from prestigious Universities.

      Yep, she must be horrible!

Bay Buchanan has spent her whole life trying to get out of the shadow of her brother Pat, and she's never made it past the penumbra.

Don't you love it when tired old political hacks criticize someone who could obviously run rings around them intellectually?

Without even running hard, too. In neutral, they can coast rings around the hacks.

What is Bay Buchanan's greatest accomplishment? That she was a paid liar for Dick Cheney? Now that's something to be proud of...

So, the reich-wingers have simplified their talking points for their myopic 23% teabagging terrorist base: "She's a dumb brown person". Congrats.

The Reich Wing Nose Machine is pretty much solidifying the Republican Party's permanent minority status with these sexist, bigoted attacks on Sotomayor. Keep it up! This was a masterful chess move by Obama. He knew that the Reich Wing couldn't resist reacting this way, smearing Sotomayor with labels like "racist" and "radical".

If any of the Republican politicians had a backbone they would've called out these pundits over their smears, saving what's left of their party by making it somewhat "mainstream". But the fact they stay silent while these smears continues proves that they're just as guilty and compliant. If you can't even attract Hispanics, Blacks, Gays, Women, and Youngsters to your Party, how in the hell do you expect to win?! Pathetic.

Bay, dear . . . I'll say the same thing to you as I said to your brother: You are RIGHT about Sotomayor being an AA nominee. She's here to help END the preferential hiring practice of putting white males on the nation's highest bench.

Of course it is. For these people, any other person than a white male is only in any position of power because of affirmative action. It's simply inconceivable to them that a white male isn't always the most qualified.

Is it just me, or does Bay Buchanan look like her brother in drag - kinda like Myrtle Urkle on "Family Matters"???

For Bay Buchanan to be on the Senate Judiciary Committee she'd have to first run for the Senate and win a seat. She'd actually have to do more than run off at the mouth for a living. Like that's going to happen.
The last thing Bay wants is for voters to decide if she's the best or brightest candidate because she knows what their answer would be.
