The plan is for the GOP fringe to go nuts on this nomination while voters look on in astonished horror. So far everything is working out.
Notice how Mika seems to have the right instinct at the beginning of the clip. She starts to say that the "racist" line of attack is nonsense, which it is, but she stops herself and waits to see what Joe is going to say.

Obama may be smarter than we realize. This nomination has totally sucked the air out of the Nancy Pelosi non-scandal, as well as the Guantanamo debate. In fact, the last peep about Guantanamo was that General Petraeus was in favor of closing it. OUCH!
Meanwhile, the Right Wing Puppies are chasing the Sotomayor ball down the street... yapping prodigiously... into the path of an oncoming bus.
Amazing that we haven't seen this general on any of the talk shows... has he been silenced?

You'd think that the few liberal talk show hosts would have had Taguba on several times during the torture debate, but I didn't see him interviewed once... maybe I just missed it.
Curiously enough, we don't hear anything bad or negative (yet) coming out from the republican lawmakers in the Senate. Which is where the rubber really hits the road. All of these "pontificators" are just screechmonkeys yelling to hear themselves yell.
Given enough rope, they'll hang themselves fairly easily, and it looks like they're in that process as we speak.
1. General Patraeus (who all of these guys have fallen in love with before), came out and said that Gitmo SHOULD be closed, and that Obama is right.
2. There are a lot of economists now predicting that the recession could be over as soon as the next quarter, or by the end of this year.
