I didn't realize Mike had it in him. The man is extremely good when filling in for Chris on Hardball, and outside of Morning Joe, he is feisty, articulate, and a lucid commentator. Yet too often on MJ, he sits silent like the other Scarborough sycophants or groupies. Speak up Mike, all we want is a fair and intellectually honest discussion. The frame of reference should not be what Joe thinks but rather, the facts. It is embarrassing when everyone on set agrees with Joe's claim that Obama made us less safe by Jan 21 while completely ignoring or dismissing the public statements of the FBI, Gates, Petreaus, Jones etc.. I suppose these people know less than Joe's "contacts" in the CIA.

The Mike I enjoy is the one with a deep and real historical perspective and the persuasive voice of a good columnist. We're not asking u to morph into Keith or Rachel. Just be the tough Bostonian who is not afraid to call balls and strikes.

I lived on Cape Cod and read Barnicle's columns a lot in the early 90's. They were always very even-handed and usually seemed aimed at making sure the 'little guy' got a fair chance. But sometimes the little guy is wrong and Barnicle wouldn't hesitate to point that out. So he wasn't an idealogue. And he seemed to know his way around all levels of Boston's very stratified culture. Watching him on Morning Joe has been odd when he is on the conservative bandwagon they get going sometimes. But it is just just a career step for him and he will get a chance to show his real voice in the future.

      Thank you MIKE.
Again, we need MSNBC to be MSNBC all day and have progressives driving the discussions. I can't believe Joe Scarborough still has a show on MSNBC. He is Pathetic.

      Wait a minute...

Is Barnicle trying to imply that "context" is more than just "the whole sentence"? Is he saying that it also should include the setting, circumstances, audience, maybe even the demeanor of the person speaking?

That's just way too complicated. How is ANYONE supposed to run a pundit show while embracing that criteria? You won't catch Hannity muddying the waters with that garbage.

Too bad the clip was cut before we got Joes response. Seems like he was about to set the record straight about why context is a meaningless concept.

I agree. Mikey B is head and shoulders above any of "The Morning Joke" show regulars. He's not an arrogant fool like Joe Blow is and definitely not a blonde bobble-head like Mika. Willie is pretty cool but he sometimes seems to be there only to support Joe and his straw-man nonsense.

It's about time someone stated the facts on that show. I've never seen so many people on a show just agree with the host so he won't shout them down. Mike finally out of frustration just states the facts and Joe says well their still a valid argument here. Ah, good ol Joe.

Is everyone who doesn't win the seat for Presidency deemed an expert on the decisions of others? How does Joe even position himself to gain this leverage. As a matter of fact, things are taking a tole on old Joe. I think that Joe is not so sure of Joe and the exposure for this facade of news is really damaging or exposing his inept ability to present without inference. There will be a new segement or show in about 4 months. GO Joe! Operative, Go!
