Hey the postal service was great when I used it, cheap and efficient, sent in a box on monday, got to my parents within seven days as promised. You can even get insurance, or signatures for extra security. If national health care was like the postal service, great.

Oh wait, he was trying to say the postal service is bad because what exactly?

I've had more problems with my insurance carrier than I've ever had with the DMV or the post office combined.

For starters, the federal government has nothing to do with DMVs. Those are state operations, not federal.

And Amtrak and the Postal Service aren't operated by the government, only funded by it (in Amtrak's case, only partially funded by it). They're both set up by law that way.

Details, details -- since when did that matter to wingers like Sammon and Gallagher?

Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security also work extremely well. It doesn't matter to these morons, any more than it matters to Hannity, Limbaugh, Tom Sullivan, Mark Levin, or any of the other anti-Government BS artists. They just bleat "haha the gummint can't do nothing right!" and they know their audience will eat it up and ask for more- never noticing all those services that are provided like clockwork, with no delays, right on schedule, time and time again.

united parcel service raises their rates every single year, along with fedex. they were also charging an additional fee when gas prices were high.

Perhaps they raise their prices because people will pay a premium for accountable service, instead of suffering the USPS.

          Suffering what, exactly?

UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned. It only depends on who's closer to my house.

This guy mentioned a "potential medical student" who decided NOT to practice medicine because he was concerned about his future potential profit. And this is a bad thing because? I'd much rather have a doctor who was concerned with my health as opposed to my potential to make him rich.

The DMV (or MVD in AZ) is Federal?

So, let's also get rid of:
      Army
      Navy
      Marines
      Air Force
      Coast Guard

      duh

I had the honor of living in zip code 60657 for a time. It was rated the worst USPS service in the entire nation. So maybe I'm biased.

But all these government run enterprises cannot support themselves financially and rely on taxpayer subsidies to survive. As stand-alone businesses, they would fail. But the subsidies allow them to continue to provide their substandard services. Too bad.

DMV - I can do almost everything online. Not a bad deal. Took me ten minutes to get my drivers license renewed at the local DMV.

Postal Service - 4 days to get a letter across the coutnry for 44 cents. Not bad. Email and electronic transfers is what keeps them from operating at a profit.

Amtrak - Last time I ever looked they were to expensive compared to driving, at least along the eastern corridor.

My health insurance with a fortune 500 company....one hassle after another.
