Projection is when one claims that someone else has one's issues without recognizing those issues in oneself. Rush Limbaugh is such person. Anger issues? Power issues?

Oh, Rush. No need to get bitter just because other people can get angry without the resultant sweat causing them to shoot out of their chair and down the hall.

It's almost comical how Limbaugh projects all of his own negative aspects onto Obama. Obama is everything Limbaugh is not and Rush knows it; it's amazing to me that he keeps harping on the anger stuff when it's clear by Obama's demeanor and actions (as well has his personal and political history)he shows himself to be a level-headed, even-keeled thinker.

That's why all the attacks failed during election season: as baseless and superficial and it was when the right said Al Gore was a pompous self-promoter or John Kerry was an elitist, a person who knew nothing but what those attackers had told them could watch them and find themselves believing it. Obama, on the other hand, was smeared as a dangerous radical who wanted to start a race war and institute Sharia law, and yet he comes across as reasonable and cool-headed to anyone who watches him speak.

So telling those that are on the step of the government claiming poverty and begging for money that maybe some of their extravagant expenses lavished only on the top executives might be one of the reasons they are out of money is a step to destroy private aviation? But not the whacked-out crop-dusters are going to be used against us theories we heard after 9/11. Or the transponder requiremen? Notice how they don't really give a lot of support to the Gov. of Nevada claiming his state is hurt because Obama said trips to Vegas are out. He gets caught in a great one there because a lot of those hotel employees are unionized.

Obama's having to school ceo's on business basics can't possibly be something a responsible lender would do so Rush has to go out of his way to find a kooky angle to funnel his bile through.

It just occurred to me that you could set up some really good drinking games for the Rush Limbaugh show. Too bad it comes on in the middle of the day.

      Drinking phrases could include "Drive-by Media"..."punishing success"..."Liberal media elite"..."Chi-Coms"...."Democrat Party"..."Formerly nicotine-stained fingers".

Unfortunately, too many people would succumb to alcohol poisoning within the first hour.

Never mind you're probably at work or school.

Maybe you could do it for Mark Levin, people are off work then.

I catch bits of his show pretty often, but last week I decided to sacrifice myself to a little experiment. I was driving up the central valley to San Francisco, and found Rush's show on an am station, and decided to see what it was like to listen to it in it's entirety.

I have to say, to anybody who needs some substance, or at least a point to a monologue, the show is maddening. It's 3 hours of repetitious catch phrases and buzz words, hypothetical situations presented as real events, and audio clips "translated" for the dittoheads through some bizarre interpretation that supports a crazy fantasy world that exists only in the far-right mind.

It's pretty common for Rush's fans here to suggest others need to listen to his entire show to understand it.It was very interesting, in a dull way, to do that. For a person not susceptible to the sideshow hypnosis practiced by Rush, it's pretty hilarious to listen to the hours of vapid sound & fury, and the callers who respond as if they've actually heard something.

Good observation. It's kind of like watching a Faith Healer do some phony hocus pocus on stage and then pass the collection bucket. Rational people just chuckle and shake their heads, but there are plenty of suckers in the audience willing to drop money in the bucket.

I couldn't agree more. I too bit the bullet and listened to five of the Great Gasbag's shows from beginning to end. The way the loons talked about the need to hear all of Rush, I kept expecting some secret revelation. There was nothing. Nada. Zip.
His show is boring. He talks in circles. He brings up stuff from the election over and over (as if this might change the result). The clips here are probably the most coherent moments in his rambling discourse.
I figure you have to be a loon, terribly lonely, retired and off your meds or trying to learn English to find any value in listening to the Great Gasbag.

From what I've heard, Rush only has 2 kinds of callers: Those partial ignoramuses that "agree 100%", and those totally intellectually incapacitated that re-state what they just heard him say as some kind of personal epiphany, some extraordinary insight that just occurred to them.

Well, I laud your effort, even though it was foolhardy to attempt it without a spotter. You could have been permanently injured. I mean, look at Barney. Would you like to live the rest of your life like that?

I'm sorry, Neon, did you just imply that I may be as likely as anotherbarney to fall under the Oxymoron's spell? What did I ever do to you?

I will concede that it wasn't very bright to attempt this on a long boring drive.I could have zombied out and hit some cows.

That's what I meant. Not that you would be as inclined to fall under the oxymoron's spell as barney, but merely that the trauma of listening to the oxymoron for an extended time could cause brain injury, the same as if you became so bored so as to zombie out and hit some cows.

I apologize profusely for the misunderstanding. It's no excuse, but I naturally presumed that brain injury was assumed when referring to Barney. My bad.

Col, I too have done this. Since I moved to northern VA and have to drive back to NC lots of times, the only thing I can get in Western VA is a lot of conservative talk. I've listened to his show, start to finish quite a few times, and the way you describe is right on. I'm not sure how any one person can make heads or tails of it.

I remember this one time I was listening, he was going to play this clip of Obama that SHOWED and PROVED was a stumbling bumbling idiot he was, and that he was no better of a talker than Bush was. So Rush old boy plays the clip, and there is Obama. Getting a question, and then putting out a good long answer, with a few "ahs", or "ums" in there, but maybe around the level of 2 or 3 over the course of a 4 minute answer.

Rush finishes the clip, and then says something along the lines of (paraphrasing here), 'There he is ladies and gentlemen. The great speaker! Listen to how he couldn't even get through the answer!'

Then he took callers proclaiming Rush as being "right" about it. I was kind of staring at the radio because for anyone who just listened to what I did, stumbling and bumbling did not come to mind at all. Rush's listeners on the other hand, fell right into line.

        Yeah, of course he is.

No wait. He's not actually. Never mind.

If there is one thing that everybody says about Obama it's this. He's level headed, and even keeled. Even when people around him are going into tirades, and or rage and anger, he's the even handed person in the room at ALL times. It's not in his nature to be "angry". Why should he be?

Rush, as others have pointed out, is merely projecting his own anger towards Obama. And really, he's not even projecting. It's just there. 24/7.

Now what is it Rush was right about? And please, be succint.

"Rush is absolutely right on this.." - Sam Wesley

Both Limpballs and his dittohead are correct, with two important differences.

Obama is dealing with anger issues -- he's likely angry about having to clean up the massive screwups, foreign and domestic, committed by his predecessor. However, he responds with coolness and levelheadedness, not in kind.

Additionally, Obama doesn't deal with his anger issues by substance abuse and pedophilia -- unlike a certain right wing noise polluter . . .
