As I've said many times here, all of the misinformation thrown out by the wingnuts wastes an enormous amout of productive time.

Whew! I was afraid they had let this one die! Looks like we may get a few more weeks of entertainment out of this nonsense yet.

By the way, it's interesting to note that, by the stats that FOX put on the screen, the ratio of Democratic donors to Republican donors in the Dealership population at large mirrors almost exactly the ratio in closed dealerships. Even so, there MUST be a conspiracy!

      Idiots.

To be fair, the numbers don't EXACTLY match up. There is a 3.6% swing in the Democrats favor. Obama is sneaky enough not to make the difference big enough to be meaningful. That b@stard!

They found Republicans had a swing in their favor too at fivethirtyeight.com.

"Republican donors were incrementally less, rather than more likely likely to have their dealerships shuttered, according to Singer's analysis, although the pattern is nowhere in the ballpark of being "statistically significant" as most of us would define it."

Let me understand this. The ratio of dealerships being closed that donate to the Republicans mirrors the ratio of dealerships that give to the Republican party, but its the dealerships that give to the republican party are being targeted by the government for closing, and there is no evedience to support the claim.

Yet they talk about for almost 4 minutes on Fox Noise.

      God my head hurts!

Is this guy so egotistical to think that this "story" is bigger than Watergate? All this proves is that the people that own dealerships are disproportionately Republican, therefore the dealerships that are closing are going to match that statistic.

Even if this guy is as successful as he claims, it doesn't prove anything. Chrysler and GM both have a lot of downsizing to do, because the market is soft and they've got too much inventory. Chances are that many "successful" dealers may still have to close, or at least stop selling Chryslers.

I have reason to doubt this guy's claims. Not that there is anything wrong with being a car salesman, but let's face it. They are not normally guys who are going to admit they failed or that they were not doing well. In my experience it is not at all uncommon to find salespeople with a "never say die" attitude. Admitting failure just is not in them - even when it actually happens.

I am not dogging that idea. I find it sort of admirable in a way. I think that could help explain this guy's views a bit, though.

If you listen to the car salesman, he is all over the place. Throwing in the caveat "if this is true" and "I can't believe the government would do that" and in the next breath suggesting it is true despite zero evidence to support it. He came off looking like a real nutjob IMO.

Some phrases that should be highlighted:

"I find it very hard to believe."

      "if that is true..."

The funny thing is that if they actually took his idea of assigning someone to investigate and present why each dealership gets cut, and he doesn't like the results, he'll just start saying that the person presenting the findings is in on the conspiracy.

I agree with the car salesman completely here. "If this is true, it should not be tolerated!" Yes!

Now if we only had a single bit of evidence to support the theory...

This is of course akin to saying that if it is true that Rush Limbaugh really eats puppies for breakfast, it should not be tolerated.

Make exclusive cars and that way people will be waiting to buy from you. Go the extra mile with class and affordability. Why release 8 new models a year demb a#$? make only what you can sell and then create a demand because of the infrequent way you release. Combine with Chrysler styling and teen friendly models. Statistics haven't supported the conspiracy theory. I'm surprised it ever got that far though.

Closing dealerships was Chrysler's idea. Obama and Chrysler both say that Chrysler was the one who chose which dealers should be shut or open, not Obama or the task force.

I've been pestering the blogs promoting the conspiracy theory and they haven't come up with one piece of credible evidence that Obama or the task force made the picks. Amazing how kook conspiracy theories morph and live on.

How could Obama or his task force have picked dealerships to close unfairly when they didn't even pick at all?

I understand and agree with your post. Now let's unveil some rather ugly facts. The Bush Administration had to know of the crisis in the auto market and what that may have meant for Americans all over the country. THere was no strategy implemented to prepare for this downslide.... OH yes there was.............. Let's go take some stuff. This was like drug dealers robbing the drug house. Oh, as a matter of opinion, this was like a night raid. First, this problem was one of the agenda issues which prompted reckless action as it did and now they are saying that OBama is on an apologizing tour. O'Bama is clearing up what the last administration did and very well I might add so you Righties had better shut up before transparency reaches your politics. My president is apologizing for your a*&! And he won't even demean himself or the Reps by exposing what you all have done and you all continue to push at him. THE BUCK STOPS HERE! STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN LIKE 12:30. You all had better start fixing things and doing right or you will not have a rep qualified to run when I am through with you! If they do they will make certain admissions that will destroy your GOP because they will have to.

        TALK ABOUT LEVERAGE! LET'S GO!

Lastly, don't make me use your words against you, like pinhead and republican dimocrats, and fascist and such. Look at the objection to the Karl Marxx theories and why. Study the intent of capitalism. Admit that there has always been socialism to prevent revolt and to distribute wealth amongst the citizens because of an old saying, he who has too much power doth corrupt absolutely. What is the "check and balance" system for in government. These things save men from themselves and a party who ignored those doctrines can now face what they truly meant.

Chrysler is a good, but new establishment. Chrysler seems to be an accountable and responsible country. They have acted preventitively and not after the depression has set in. You could learn a few things from them.

GM, what about that job request?

Anyway, Chrysler knows a good idea when they read it and they are probably on it. You guys move to slow because you are over confident or you are waiting on a miracle from the Republicans-this will not happen.

I love the fact that GM has done so much and they DESERVED THE BAILOUT! Chrysler is going to do just fine, I think.

The President received political donations from southerners too but he ain't bailing out garden homes and tea parties! He is putting down strategy that will enable America to go forward without acting out of hatred and unjust practices. I don't even think that torture is really the issue with waterboarding, it is the attitude, the sadism, and the barbarianism to another race in the shaddow of our own error and the mf nerve of us to act as though it's then justified.

      Let's Go!
