So first he says the Hummer "fell out of favor" with consumers, then Rush wets his pants over the possibility of not being able to buy one.

Welcome to the wonderful world of market forces, Rush. If there is no market, then it stands to reason there will be no product.

"Nobody has ever outdone the United States, militarily, economically, in any category, you name it."

      I'll name it... HEALTH CARE.

That was such an incoherent string of words... there wasn't one thought that led to the next, the explanation of "if we're allowed to buy one" ended up on a different premise than it began, the mispronunciation of words...

Is limpaugh hitting the oxy again? He sounded like he'd been up all night crying into the carton of ice cream on his lap.

Methinks Limpballs just wanted an excuse to use "bitch-slapped" and "hummer" in the same segment . . .

Obama will outlaw owning a Hummer the next time Rush gets one without having to pay for it.

      '..cars they do not want...'

Limbaugh seems to be trying to rally the fans of conspicuous consumption. It's a market force that's ethically wrong. The general concept is that you buy all the stuff you can think of, never mind any problems (environmental, economic, ethical, material, etc) involved in the production, use, or disposal of your new property, and then show it off to other consumers. In short, the purpose of purchase is not use, but simple ownership.

Also, if Limbaugh's (finally) nervous of China's involvement in the American economy, then he should take a walk through a Walmart and see how much of the stuff isn't made in the States.

This is all further evidence of the shallowness of Limbaugh's rhetoric. Talk to a ditto-head about the trade deficit with China and see if he even knows what a trade deficit is.

Conspicuous consumption is right. Once the autopsy of this economic crisis is written, that will be one of the culprits. CNBC did a documentary called House of Cards which laid it out pretty well.

It wasn't caused by poor people getting mortgages, as Limpdog would have us believe. Subprime mortgages were at the heart of the problem, no doubt, but what turned it into a worldwide catastrophe was Wall Street's greed.

It is also evident that the "recovery" which was attributed to Bush's tax cuts had more to do with a rampant consumer spending spree on credit, which is now biting us in the butt.

What part of "average" in CAFE doesn't he understand. If GM can produce a few high mileage cars there would still be room in their fleet for lower mileage trucks and SUV's. Rush, like Beck is telling their audiences that we'll all be forced into driving Trebants in 7 years.

GM is unloading Hummer because it sold less than 2000 of them last year.

I made a mistake on my Hummer sales figures. The less than 2000 figure was for the month of December, 2008.
