Except for one thing. As stupid and insance the bombings were of the weather underground, they never killed anyone.

One of the members of the weathermen was killed trying to make a bomb. Also, there were a couple policemen injured in a bombing incident in Oakland. The weathermen never claimed responsibility for the latter bombing. In any event, the acts of the weathermen do not excuse the acts of the radical right. Both are morally wrong.

Agreed. But again, they never killed anyone. Doesn't make it right, not in the least, both are reprehensible acts. The Oakland bombing was not their doing, so they claimed. I'm going to have to believe them on this, because they never had an issue claiming their bombings before.

The bombings never killed anyone or the Weather Underground never killed anyone?

The record doesn't agree with you:

        WX Underground linked killings

Officers in NY killed by Wx Underground

Don't forget Comrade Ayers interview where he stated "we didn't go far enough" with the bombings. Had they not been driven truly underground there is no telling how many dead cops there would have been.
It is very telling how the left keeps excusing and turning a blind eye to their actions.

Are you refuting that those officers did NOT die?

Please post links refuting that...then we can talk.

I reread the 1975 Senate Subcommittee Report on the Weather Underground and the bank robbery is not even mentioned. The report noted that the Weather Underground planted multiple bombs in various banks around the country, but there are no statements in the report that indicates a bank robbery. Unless there is persuasive evidence after 1975 linking group that the Weathermen did the bank robbery, it is mere speculation on the part of people making the claim.

I bought this report at the Federal Bookstore after it came out so this is not a secondary source.

Unfortunately Mags... one person was killed during the last bombing of that particular group... it was that unintended death that got the group to break apart and go its separate ways when Bill Ayres felt grief to what had been done because that death took away the message they were trying to convey.

The despicable thing that Rush Limbaugh is doing here is trying to deflect the reality that a right-wing fanatic (took BillO's advice perhaps?) shot and killed a doctor (who was working within the framework of the law) by taking the law into his own hands (makes for a great movie (The Punisher) but not real life) by equating it with made-up hypocrisy and the long since debunked lie that Bill Ayres jump-started President Obama's career.

Notice how at no time did Rush even bother to talk about the murder itself and the hows and whys it is wrong to do what the gunman did... just more rhetoric to gin up his dittohead base with more BS.

I don't remember that being the case. There was one person killed by their bombs, that was one of the people from the group.

According to what I've read, the group was disbanded after they felt they were no longer "needed", or they had a disagreement with other groups on how to move forward with their agenda.

          Mags,

I remember watching the documentary about the Weather Underground (but that was years ago)... I knew that someone had died and your right, it was one of their own... I was correct that Ayres felt grief... I wrongly remembered that as the main reason for the breakup which I was incorrect in memory... Thank you for setting me straight!

Uh, Rush? Scott Roeder isn't a terrorist, domestic or otherwise. He's a murderer. He loaded up his gun and drove to a church in order to kill one doctor whose activities, while perfectly legal, he disagreed with.

Now, I realize that nowadays it's hard to get your simple-minded audience riled up over a simple murderer. But like the fable about the boy who cried wolf, if you keep crying "terrorist" at every little thing, it's going to lose its luster.

If Roeder was a terrorist does that mean we could waterboard him?

Almost all murders are for money, sex or revenge. There are very few random murders. Roeder murdered for a political reason so if you define terrorism for political or religious reasons then killing the doctor would make it a terrorist act. And yes, what the weathermen did would be considered terrorism.

According to Wiki, there were three weathermen members that were killed by the bomb making. It has been a while since I read the Senate subcommittee report on the weathermen, but I know it stated at least one member was killed.

      Talk about SPIN!

My head hurts from the spin used to blame President Obama and of course, Ayers for Dr Tiller's murder made a "Tilt-a-Whirl" seem stationary.

I am sick of reich-wingers blaming anyone EXCEPT the guy who did the crime. Why pigs like limbaugh get a microphone speaks to the overall reich-wing bias in the media today.
