Dude, if you want to drive around in a big ol' gas-guzzler with fins and a V-8, knock yourself out.

      Who's stopping you?

This stupid, old, white guy does not realize he already sold his and his grand childrens' freedom to China.

Marx needs to be updated now that Communism and Capitalism have merged within China. I think Marx's main point was worker freedom, not the exploitation of cheap labor as a resource, which is what globalization is all about. Are we going to let the capitalists and the Chinese slavemasters win?

That would be Obama's GM selling out to the Chinese. Those Hummers can be easily converted to military specs also. With Barry printing money to the tune of 3 trill, our grandchildren are already $30 grand in the hole.

        Way to go Barry!

Not according to your hero, Rush Limpdog. He said just yesterday that the domestic Hummer was no more than a glorified Suburban, and that the military version was built elsewhere. You wouldn't dispute the almighty Limpdog, would you?

Besides, you think the Chinese don't already have military vehicles?

Who is Barry? If you cannot write a sentence without spouting Rush (or some other Leader) inspired jargon, I have no use for you.
          Go away.

You know, Obama isn't as "left" as I want him to be (too many Rubinites/neoliberals in his Administration), but it makes even those who aren't ardent supporters of him come to his defense because these sort of attacks are non-stop on cable news, and lord knows the American public can be too gullible at times. It reminds me of what the late, great Molly Ivins said of Bill Clinton that I feel equally applies to Obama:

If left to my own devices, I'd spend all my time pointing out that he's weaker than bus-station chili. But the man is so constantly subjected to such hideous and unfair abuse that I wind up standing up for him on the general principle that some fairness should be applied. Besides, no one but a fool or a Republican ever took him for a liberal.

Ain't that the truth, Sister Ivins, ain't that the truth.

Yes, Preston, I miss Molly Ivins and agree with her statement (and yours). Clinton was generally to my right during his presidency, but listening to 10 minutes of Rush's rants always strengthened my support for Clinton.

      P. J. O'Rourke offers that electric cars will be modded to go fast.

Which just goes to show you that P. J. O'Rourke knows nothing about the Tesla.

Seriously. You don't have to carbonize the atmosphere to go fast and drive a big car. But you do have to fill the atmosphere with hot air if you want to undermine reasonable environmental and urban planning policy, which is the real goal here.

Top Gear did a test of the Tesla and while overall they were impressed it did have a couple of quirks. Mainly the charge did not last as long as advertised, and the brakes failed during testing. It did beat the Lotus Elise (which its frame is based on) in the 1 v 1 and screamed around their test track. The price will be the biggest stumbling block though. I think it checks in around $125k.

I know it didn't really matter to Multi-Millionaire TV pundits, but I didn't feel all that "free" when gas was $4.50 a gallon.
