She may get taken to the woodshed, but I don't think it's going to matter.
Two things could be going on here.
One: the Republican Party could be playing with Limbaugh's 20%. You know, "The last conservative standing" rant. Republicans hold on to the base, but get to move to the center.
Two: Limbaugh gets to save face, all the while knowing the Republicans are doing what they need to do to save the party.
Forgive my cynicism, I think it is the former.
It is a win, win situation for the Republicans and for Limbaugh. Republicans appear to be reasonable, and Limbaugh gets his ratings and keeps his dittoheads
Forgive my cynicism, but I think it is the former.
Nothing to forgive. You're absolutely right. But, its still why I left the Republican party. But watch - as it gets closer to mid-term elections, and eventually the big one....somehow, they'll find a way to tone him down....not drown him out, but definitely tone him down. I hear they're interviewing new house staff to do his oxy runs for him. And, if Obama isn't successful at putting real dollars to work to educate this country, I'm afraid we just may turn the clock back in the direction that Rush, Hannity, Beck, Savage and the rest of their ilk would like this country to go.....in spite of itself. And the sleeping, uneducated, lazy but angry masses will follow, not realizing they vote against their own interest because of an unsubstantiated fear and loathing of those who don't look like them.
They're a party in disarray, barely holding on. Their only hope of rebirth rests with Obama failing or another terrorist attack. They are a party of fear and lies. For them to succeed the country must fail.
I think what you'll eventually see is the GOP break-up from within--with two parties (center right and center wingnut) rising from the rubble.
Speaking of Gort, I have not seen the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still... I wonder if that scene is in the new movie, where the girl delivers the message to the robot?
