Robertson Spokesman: "...this video is an obvious, deceptive attempt to create offense where no offense exists."

Oh, so Pat hasn't conflated gay marriage and bestiality?

Oops, it looks like he has.

C'mon, Pat. Man up. We already know from past statements that you think homosexuality = bestiality (and child molestation). Just say so instead of hiding behind the fact that, in this particular instance, the issue was hate crime legislation instead of gay marriage.

And for God's sake, what is wrong with homosexual, polygamous, bestial or incestuous relationships? Who's right to life is being violated, who's right to liberty is being violated, and who's right to property is being violated? If all parties consent, who's to say any government should deny them the freedom to do what they want?

        How does an animal consent?

There's nothing wrong with homosexual relationships.

Incest is troublesome mostly because of the genetics factor. I also think it's psychologically unhealthy because it blurs the line between family support needs and sexual needs.

        Bestiality is animal abuse.

Polygamy raises a lot of issues with the rights of one spouse over another. If you don't designate a superior wife, then any marital powers are up for litigation. Which wife should have power of attorney over an estate, for instance? If you do establish legal dominance for one spouse, then you're creating a second-class citizen. There are also issues with someone leaving a polygamous marriage and retaining a stake in the estate, since divorce would be unnecessary, and any number of other scenarios that discourage legal recognition.

And that's really the issue. If someone wants to have multiple partners or sleep with a relative, then there's an argument that the government doesn't need to prohibit that. But they're also not obligated to recognize and sanction it on a legal level. That's the difference between those examples and homosexual relationships.

Agreed. It is my opinion that Polygamy is not inherently immoral, but the legal/contractual complications make it impractical.

I'd love to hear Pat's opinion on the gay penguins. Are animals capable of "sin", or did God make them that way?

The "duck love" argument is just as absurd when applied to the Hate Crimes Bill as it is in the Gay marriage debate. Even if Pat were right, which he isn't, what "protections" does he think duckophiles will receive? Does he think he and his fellow Troglodytes should be allowed to assault and murder duckophiles with impunity?

I just don't get the Right Wing hysteria over Hate Crimes legislation.
