Possibly: but in Beck's case "we" may also be referring to the multiple voices in his head.

Here is a quotation in line with Becks statement......enjoy.
"Today Christians stand at the head of our country.
We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit.
We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press, in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of LIBERAL excess during the past years."

        - Adolph Hitler

So harley...yes, you hit the nail right on the head. That quote sounds like the motto for people like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, ah hell, anyone at Fox News or listeners to Fox News.

Wish I could remember which communist leader said that Quote "someday they would take over the United States without ever firing a shot" unquote I read that many years ago. I was very young and cannot remember where but the remark stayed with me. Historygeek, do you recall such a saying?

I want to pass that quote along to my conservtaive friends, without the attribution of course. Then ask them if they feel that it represents them, and their philopsphy. THEN give them the attribution. Should be good for a laugh.

Don't be obtuse! "Like we are now" means blindly following someone because they can give a speech, and spout vacuous platitudes without ever actually saying anything. By the way, do you know what fascist even means, or do you throw that around without thought just because you know it has a negative connotation. A fascist government is actually a VERY left-wing form of government.

Uh... WRONG, SIR, WRONG! Fascism is the extreme RIGHT WING form of Gov't. To say otherwise is to embrace both ignorance and absurdity. This "extreme left wing" is a bunch of nonsene YOU GUYS made up to confuse the ignorant simply because YOU (and the ignorant) think that all things Facist (or anythign else that ends in -ist) are bad, and all thing liberal are bad, so facism must be liberal. You could not be farther from reality, history or politics.

Did Glenn Beck seriously use the Holocaust Museum as a stepping stone into a rant about how America is headed towards fascism? (And what the heck was up with him essentially saying, "Seriously, everybody should be in the Holocaust Museum when there's a bomb threat"?)

Why so people watch this loon?

For me, agreeing wih Beck is as rare as O'Reilly admitting (sort of) a mistake.

I think Beck is right, but it is the extreme right in the US which is resurrecting National Socialism and the hate based politics which subsumed much/most of Germany in the 30's

And the first speaker: raising questions about Israel's actions and policies is not anti-Semitism, any more than a conservative raising questions of some of Obama's policies is necessarily racism.

Reasonable people can disagree on (almost?) all issues.

Extremism is a danger to a democracy.

Always remember, "If you're going to pursue truth, you have to be prepared to change your mind....

Like Germany of the time our king has been deposed about a decade ago. We are feeling uneasy about the democratic government which was imposed upon us. Times are tough (true) and what we really need is an autocrat to show us who to hate and fight till, we either achieve world domination, or are left with a smoking ruin of a country.

FOX "News" is no longer a News channel. I am not sure what it has become, given the level of outright exhortation to violence I keep hearing on their shows (and even as part of their regular news coverage).

What is FOX? I don't really think they are putting out this kind of material to instigate an American revolution because it would be bad for business.

I am just blown away by the companies that apparently willingly purchase advertising space on FOX. They must not be worried by some kind of "taint" being attached to a company that runs an ad just after Beck finished one of his rants.

What kind of company would want their product advertised on FOX? (other than what their target audience likely purchases - male enhancement products, guns, and beer).

sarcasm: Oh yes Mr. Beck, I really hope your wish is granted and I one day visit a museum, or any place for that matter, and a bomb threat is called in so I can be utterly terrified, for I could really use the jolt of reality to put everything "into perspective" :end sarcasm.

I'd like to point out how absurd it is to say that reading Mein Kampf allows one to figure out whether or not and to what extent Germans knew about the Holocaust. There are of course tons of excellent and detailed works about this complex question but I guess you get better shock value if you cite Mein Kampf (and bonus points for acknowledging that it's a vile book).

Although there are vague similarities between our poor economic environment in America now, to post WWI Germany, one very important thing that was behind the Nazi movement, an element not at all found in our current liberal, Social Democrat mindset is the extreme nationalism.

We have learned from the past at least, that the isolationism and nationalism of the past 8 years is not good for our economy or that of the welfare of the entire world.

But this isn't about critical thinking, or working towards a mutual goal, or gallant diplomacy, this is about Glen Beck's ratings, and scare-tactics to keep people ignorant and fearful of progressive change.
