Yeah! After all, we should be able to declare liberals non-citizens in order to make sure America votes right...sheesh...

That's a big 10-4. Isn't it funny how a bunch of fascist racists always talk about taking rights away from anyone they don't like make a living claiming liberals are taking away their rights?

If Becky is against anchor babies, I hope he spends every day demanding that Malkin is deported.

        harley:

        Ouch!

Bringing in the fourteenth amendment into this discussion is racist.

Lyndon Johnson changed immigration law so that families could stay together, and therefore make a more stable family unit - thereby making better citizens.

Further, and I truly hate to say this, but economically, this country was built on the back of cheap labor. It started with indentured servants, than slaves, and then every immmigrant group who were lucky enough to find their way here.

I say this proudly: I am the granddaughter of immigrants, I am the daughter of a life long union member. I stand on their shoulders.

          Cheers to you.

Here's the good news, the right has no coherent answer to immigration reform and their deportation, seal the border militant stance does not fly with an increasingly multi-cultural nation like ours.

Progressives just make more sense on the issue. We realize that immigration is a labor issue, that immigration is a trade issue. Right now too many undocumented immigrants have applications for citizen ship pending and while they are waiting they have no legal access to protection from predatory employers. And the practices of these employers filter out into our economy and drive down wages for everyone. We understand that streamlining the path to citizenship, reuniting families and empowering workers to fight a broken system is a large part of our broad prosperity agenda.

So forget Beck and his fake as hell conservative family values schlock. If he cared about families, if understood how families are the cornerstone of communities upon which immigrants more successfully integrate themselves into our country, he would just stfu.

That outrage is only reserved for liberals. If you're a nazi trying to escape persecution for war crimes you're more than welcome under that republican big tent.

I don't have cable television. Though, I listen to left-wing radio all the time, and have a man-crush on Thom Hartman. (sp?)

      The man's insanely smart.

Let's look at Glen Beck, who is only a US Citizen by virtue of his live birth in the United States or on US soil. (military bases, etc.)

Let's check the register on the Mayflower, because I'm sure his 100% all-American family were on boa--wait, what? Oh, Mr. Beck is a transplant like the rest of us. Do you think his great-great-grandmother would have considered his great-grandmother an 'anchor baby'?

The idea that illegal immigrants are dangerous, to me, far overstates the case. Lest we forget that all of the terrorists who struck the WTC on 9/11 were here legally on Visas.

      Beck, you're a numbskull.

And people like Becky believe in upholding the Constitution, yet they want to repeal the 14th Amendment, and attack anyone who slams the 2nd Amendment - talk about fascism. Next thing you know they're going to want to take citizenship away from those who became citizens under the 14th Amendment.

The whole point of the 1st Amendment to the Constitution is that everyone is free to give their opinion no matter how repugnant it may be. When these repugnant ideas are speechified the remedy is to counter them with an intelligent argument. In this case we do not have to reach very far to make an intelligent rebuttal. Sheer stupidity will fall under its own weight.

Well then, hang about and enjoy the ride. While the public's increasing resistence to the rightwing screech machine is encouraging. The fall will happen...not shortly. They've shown the easy ability to ignore reality. They're trying the same trick with rhetorical gravity.
The money backing them might fall like a stack of cards eventually. This is the most likely way some disappear, in my opinion. Faulty financial planning is a feature of many recent media empires.

I'd like to think so, pags, but I still remember 2004, Jerome Corsi, and swiftboating which got Shrub over the top for that second term. Never forget Mencken's most famous quote--"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people"...

But you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Look what happened in Shrub's second term. The economy went to hell, there was growing opposition to the war in Iraq and torture stories were slowly leaking out. Now these issues have blown up big time and Shrub is getting the blame, as well he should. The only redeeming thing from the Bush administration is that it created the conditions for the country to elect a black man. That is what history will write.

I actually disagree with the way citizenship is done too. Most other countries do not use the geographic locale to decide citizenship, I see no reason for the US to do so. It creates more problems than it solves, IMO.

I might be wrong, Glenn, and I will look it up, but I am fairly certain the same policy applies to children born in Canada. Blowhard.

Doughboy is upset because he realizes that 'anchor babies' are recognized as American citizens as a result of their having taken the very same rigorous actions that he did to achieve his own US citizenship: THEY WERE BORN HERE! That's all doughboy did to become a citizen. That's all I did, too. That's all MOST of us did:we sucked down our first breath of air on American soil. His objection to their citizenship is purely a racist one.

So Beck is arguing that, because "we no longer have that problem" of slavery, we can throw out the 14th amendment... in order to deny rights of citizenship to the children of immigrants who come to America and want a better life?

What a noble reason to change the constitution: in order to specifically deny rights to a particular group of people.

Exactly. Glenn preaches about how our Constitution is being torn apart, and what does he want to do? tear up the 14th Amendment. It's not okay for anyone else to tamper with the Constitution or use common sense when dealing with it, but when Glenn doesn't like what's written, then have at it. Hypocrite.

No one has an objection to immigrants, as long as they're here LEGALLY! Illegal immigration is a drain on our economy. Just look at California. Most illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, so there's drain on federal and state revenue as a result. Illegal immigrants don't have health insurance, so they go to the emergency room for health care, which again is a financial drain on our economy. And somehow, even though they're not citizens, they're entitled to welfare benefits. Another drain!! I'm going deaf from all the flushing!
