A more important question would be why does the MSM give a voice to inflammatory rhetoric. It doesn't take a genius to distinguish hateful, unproductive rhetoric. The rhetoric needs to be condemned asap if it incites hate instead of intelligent discourse.

That's because they think they are somehow beholden to the fascist racist regime in exile, so they give them as much airtime as possible to counter the phony claims about that non-existant liberal press.

Ann Coulter sells books. Glenn Beck gets ratings.

        That's why.

The lefty blogger phenomenon is countered on the right by a corporatist information structure. The right is doing very well because they have deep pockets and make money at it. digby correctly talks about 'wingnut welfare;' there is a place at the table for everyone who wants to rant against Democrats or liberals or progressives or anyone who is thinking straight.

I'm recalling the moment during the Enron scandal when the traders were caught on tape saying grandma Millie could just die trapped in an elevator. It's the same attitude from corporate media, especially Fox: Work them up into a froth so they watch, and who cares about the consequences.

There were people who would never own a slave, people kept poor because of slavery who gave their lives to defend another man's right to exploit the masses. The same thing goes on today. Many people are in economic slavery today.Yet today there are many who will give their lives for the right of the few to exploit the masses,rip-off mortages, low wages, send children from school to jail for being children etc etc. The reasoning behind this,if you are doing worst than me,then I am alright. Why can't we all do better. Jesus said our battle is not the devil or sin but against Powers (that be) and Principalities(people's misdirected principals). So their lies the difficulty getting people to stop eating the garbage from the right." If some one is not exactly like them they should be in worst shape than you just because",not all of you us should and can do better. Their appeal is always to the mob never to the individual.

The most dangerous and least recognized manifestation of this right wing rhetoric is the daily appearance of Rush Limbaugh on AFN, the Armed Forces Network, that reaches hundreds of thousands of American military all over the world. Our military are given a steady diet of Limbaugh with his sly references to mutiny and rebellion within those exiled, (read conservatives) and he is planting the seeds in the minds of those trained to use weapons and to organize against opposing forces. Limbaugh also daily, hourly, plants seeds of disrespect and rebellion against the Commander in Chief. Who allowed Limbaugh to be the dominant force on AFN? AFN is supported and paid for with our tax dollars. The right wing lunatics have established a foothold in some very dangerous places. I demand an investigation.
