ya know. day after day i watch the videos on this site and it just amazes me that these are the people that the right holds up as their best and brightest. tammy bruce, o'rielly, hannity, rush, and the rest are either the most dishonest people in the world or the stupidest. hard to say which. and by extension i would guess that their fans must be even dumber than the ones they are getting the info from. but i will say this, after seeing what all these dopes have to say it's no wonder the wingnuts think sarah palin is so wonderful. she seems like a mensa member compared to these people.

I think they're dishonest, and the people who believe what they say are the stupidest.

Back in my younger days when I didn't pay much attention to politics, I probably would have described myself as Center-Right leaning. Then I got a job where my office was in the basement and the only station that came in on my radio was the local Limbaugh affiliate. After less than a week of listening to him, I could understand that he was obviously completely full of crap, was inconsistent in what he claimed to say from day to day, and just could not be taken seriously by any thinking person.

I suppose I owe Limbaugh some thanks. It was listening to him and realizing that he had to rely on lies, exaggerations and contradictory statements that made me question the right wing tendencies that I had drifted into accepting - if the most vocal proponent of a viewpoint has to rely on such methods to support his beliefs, there must be something wrong with the core of those beliefs. And from then on, I began doing my homework and came to the positions I hold now.

I just don't understand why more people can't seem to follow that same process. It took less than a week for me to see through Limbaugh. It's hard for me to grasp how some people never are able to.

My transition was similar, though I started at Left of Center. I actually voted for G.H.W.Bush in 88, then Perot in 92. After listening to Rush for a year or so, I became a Full-tilt Liberal.

I agree. I had a very similar conversion in the 90s. I worked for a man who listened to him daily. At first, I thought he was funny playing this character on the radio and razzing politicans.

Gradually, I came to realize that he was being taken seriously by his listeners. The more I listened to him with this in mind, the more I realized that he was NEVER actually correct. Even when he and I agree on an issue, he still finds a way to be wrong.

He uses one strawman after another. The libs want to do this, and the left cannot allow that. They are pathetic strawmen even, but clearly his audience does not care. But, the more I came to see that this is the Republican party, the more I wanted nothing to do with it.

You'd think Obama was the 1st president to do this. But then again, if you take a picture, the morons on the right will claim you put a filter on it...

Gee, they look engaged in a serious and profound discussion. Those flowers must be artificial because they would have wilted at the foul stench of evil in the room.

Let's see. Who do we got here? Counterclockwise:

Michael Medved, Sean Hannity, The Boy Wonder, Laura Ingram--don't recognize the other two.

abc was the network that turned over 5 hours of prime time on the fifth anniversary of 9-11 to some right winger named cyrus nowrasteh to produce an "it's all clinton's fault" propaganda piece called the "path to 9-11".

Google September 8, 2002 and Sunday Talk shows:

Rummy (CBS), Powell (FOX), Cheney (NBC), Rice (CNN), Myers (ABC) all went on Sunday morning shows with no counterguests citing the NY Times aluminum tube story in which the Bush administration was cited as the main source.

What's one night of primetime on one network (if its as bad as the conservatives say it is) compared to every major news outlet including the "liberal" NYT for a full day?

Not having caught Tammy Bruce until that audio, I was jolted to hear her give President Barack Obama a nickname, Barky, as in "Barky's plan." It will be lost on no one over 50 that "Barky" is a none-too-subtle allusion to "darky" (also "darkey" or "darkie"), an offensive, contemptuous reference to a "Negro."
You could look it up in practically any dictionary. I imagine "darky" was a staple in hate radio of the early-to-mid 20th century. So how cute for Tammy Bruce to play a riff on it at our president's expense.

Who dredged up the "Barky" slur? Is it original with Bruce? Have other radio jocks embraced it?

Perhaps I am late catching up on racist insults, recent and recycled.
