Really Pat...Name one. Oh I bet you'll toss out the Roman Empire. Rome's problem wasn't embracing homosexuality, it was the fact that it grew to large to sustain and that the emperors became increasingly nuttier from inbreeding.

Yeah, the Troglodytes love to point to Rome as what will happen if we don't persecute Homosexuals. Of course, they don't know sh*t about history. Historians give various dates for the official "fall" of Rome, but I think it's safe to say that all of them occur after Rome officially became a Christian Nation.

Well, these are the same students of history who think Thomas Paine would've been livid over "Happy Holidays", so that's not TOO surprising.

I was amused when some of the Teabaggers spoke reverently of Thomas Paine. Obviously, they are unfamiliar with The Age of Reason.

It was the first serious critique of Christianity and the Bible that I ever read, and I still consider it one of the best.

Robertson does not appreciate the fact that there is more sinning by hetero couples cheating on their spouses than there are homosexual "sins." The conservative Christiand have fixation on homosexuality. Sin is defined as the belief that others are having more fun than you.

Actually, the fall of the Roman empire had more to do with the amount of lead used in the glazing of drinking and eating utinsels.

Beside, the British Empire (tongue firmly in cheek) has been around how long? If there is any country that might have been said to "embrace" homosexuality, I have to think the British are in there somewhere.

Huh. So yeah, the Roman Empire is out. But that still leaves the collapse of the Soviet Union, which as we all know fell because of its embracing of homosexu... Er... Okay, that's not a great example either. Wait, wait, I've got it! Apartheid South Africa! [crickets chirping] Nobody's buying that one, huh? Alright, just give me a minute... The Mayans? No? Ooof, this is harder than I though. Okay, okay, I've got it: Sodom, right?...

California, huh, fairliberal? Interesting. I'd really like you to expand on this germ of a dubious thought. You see, ETRW and I are joking, and the joke is funny because our jokes highlight how utterly absurd, uneducated, and hollow are Mr. Robertson's comments. But central to our comedy is the fact that in actuality, homosexuality has absolutely nothing to do with the downfall of any state on any level. I really can't wait to hear you explain what prompted you to type "California" besides bigotry.

Pat Robertson is irrelevant and should be ignored. He preaches Hate, Intolerance, and Prejudice. Christianty is phony and made up with no basis of any fact. The Bible is a work of fiction written by man that contains nothing more than myths, legends and outright lies.

I find it hard to take someone who claims he loves america seriously when that person used his dad's connections to get off the troop landing ship before he was supposed to debark with the rest of the troops at Inchon...

That and also his dubious claims of military service as well as a number of preposterous statements about gays, 9/11 and other social issues make it impossible to take him serious. I prefer to think he is suffering brain rot from too much religion. Of course, he demonstrates that religion is big business just like the other televangelists that prey (not pray) on the public.

Now, here's a thought. Pat says that homosexuals are a "tiny" fraction of the population... 1% or 2%. If that's the case, why would allowing them to marry be such a threat to the other 98% of marriages?

The reality is that it's a much larger percentage. Some studies say maybe even up to 10%, but who really knows when most of this country demonizes homosexual behaviour that it is still in the closet in most parts of this country.

Gay and Lesbian families live in 99.3% of all counties in the US

Pat Robertson is the white Jeremiah Wright.

Too bad the same conservatives who go after Wright have absolutely no problems with Robertson and HIS hateful rhetoric.

if he is referring to the Roman Empire, and i'm positive that is what he is doing since i don't believe his mind could actually do any true research of any king, he needs to read a new work by James J. O'Donnell - The Ruin of the Roman Empire.

the polemic is that the rule of the then christianist-aligned later rulers of the empire ruined it because they imposed their form of the christian religion above all others, to the extreme of violence, and failed to expand the trade and growth that the world was seeing at the time. they came from a religious-xenophobic, not homophobic, viewpoint. they were purely self-aggrandizing and self-serving. they were not malleable nor open to any ideas that were contrary to their safe zones. after all, this was the beginning of the Dark Ages, the 3rd - 5th centuries CE (Common Era not christian era.]

wait, Robertson reminds me of Justinian I, the man most reviled for ruining the Roman Empire!

Georger Santayana was correct “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Thanks for your advice Pat. I'm sure the "tiny" fraction of LGBT people in America and the rest of the world for that matter, are, INDEED PROUD of who they are. The ones that may be struggling with this issue is because of bigoted comments from the likes of people like you.

Also, did anyone notice his co-host...when Pat said "Is anyone actually proud of being transgendered?"....did anyone notice that she was left speechless?? I can't tell if it's because she thought he crossed the line or she doesn't actually know what transgendered means....thoughts anyone?

I was wondering that, too... I watched as he was asking her, waiting for a response. And when she just shrugged, I wasn't quite sure what to think. Watching these clips of him rail against LGBT people is quite incredible, how he's so much calmer than other wackadoos who say similar things... He is really at peace with his hatred and judgment. I suppose it just really bothers me that his cohorts in social crime (oops, maybe I meant co-hosts in jesus christ?) just smile and nod their heads and go along with it.

          Good point.....

I think his co-hosts and followers are so wrapped up in their beliefs and admiration for Mr. Robertson, their brains (or whatever is left) have been so deluded, they have no choice but to regurgitate whatever vile things have been spewed at them.

Thankfully, I think even the super Christian convervatives are realizing what a nutjob this guy is.....besides, except for his devout followers, does this guy have any real relevance anymore?
