Liddy cooks his food on his hand, held over a burning candle. Too bad he doesn't get burned to a carbon footprint.

Right, roast rat for one, if I remember correctly.

BTW, despite the Irish sounding last name, he doesn't claim such status as far as I remember nor does my research indicate it. His genealogy:

He's just bitter because of the carbon footprint that firebombing the Brookings Institute leaves.

      Wait! Who's the dumb-ass though...

      Liddy for speaking this crapola...

I laugh, because I (jokingly) think about this every time I grill or BBQ. (And I do that a LOT.) But's it obviously silly. I generate mroe CO2 driving to work in 1 day than I do grilling during the entire month of July.

But yeah, Liddy is being idiotic like a Cheney here. He's perfectly deflected a serious issue into the absurd. No educated person will buy it, of course, but his party's base will eat it up. (After cooking over a gasoline fire, no doubt.)

Why does everything have to go back to Africa? Couldn't he say something "You go to the deep south and you sign poor little white people who cook their roadkill on an open fire..."?

(I really know why he doesn't say that - he'd be offending his base)

"..if I, if I commute into town, as I do, in a big diesel truck.."

When confronted with the idea that commuting in a big diesel truck is morally and ethically wrong, people like Liddy would probably respond by saying that it's their right as Americans to do so. By slipping that idea in, Liddy is trying to reinforce the notion that environmentalists are trying to limit the freedoms of Americans. In reality, the issue at hand is that just because we can doesn't mean we should. Liddy's position is that because we can, we should.

Conservatives are using the arguement that health care can't be done because there isn't enough money. They also like to say 'drill baby drill' talk about how important it is for you to be able to drive a gas guzzler if you want to as an expression of 'freedom'. The fact that money is something we made up and there can be as much money as we want but oil is finite and will run out eventually never crosses their minds. When the oil is gone, if nothing has taken it's place, all the money you have to burn won't heat your house very long.

Yeah . . . I'll bet that's what 'ol Gordo was thinking on the evening of June 5, 1972, as he was breaking into DNC HQ . . .
