Glenn has no need to worry. President Saakashvili of Georgia, will take him in or give him a bridge to hide under maybe the same bridge Glenn insinuated President Obama would throw Georgia under.

Well thank god O'Reilly proved there are no homeless vets living under the bridges. They've suffered enough and shouldn't have to live with riff-raff like Beck or Bill O.

I think it's terrible that Glenn Beck is calling homeless veterans bums. These people served their country and deserve respect, Mr. Beck. And are you suggesting they are alcoholics, too? Mr. Beck, I understand you are a recovering alcoholic...but you are fortunate to sleep in a bed every night instead of under a bridge like they have to.

Done to the great bass riff from Chic's "Good Times," by the late, great Bernard Edwards. It was used without attribution to Edwards, and they paid no royalties to him for its use.

Beck says "why would we give new powers to the federal reserve?". Hmmm, let's see now, is that a true statement?

Obama to Strip Fed of Power to Regulate Mortgages, Credit Cards

WASHINGTON — Among the sweeping changes in government regulation that President Barack Obama will propose Wednesday is the creation of an independent and powerful Consumer Financial Product Safety Commission to regulate financial products such as mortgages and credit cards.

With an eye toward protecting consumers and ordinary investors, the Federal Reserve and other bank regulators would lose their oversight over mortgages, credit cards and other financial products that are sold to consumers. It's a radical shift in approach and a tacit acknowledgment of federal failure.

"Lets face it, the (Federal Reserve Board) has had the power to engage in aggressive consumer regulation at least since 1994," Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren, who chairs the Congressional Oversight Panel, which oversees how Wall Street bailout money is being spent, told McClatchy in an interview. "They clearly had the power to stop the mortgage crisis before it started. And what did they do with that power? Nothing."

Warren's view was echoed by Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., the chairman of the influential House Financial Services Committee, which will write the legislation to implement and perhaps build on Obama's proposals.

"We definitely should take consumer protection away from the Fed," Frank said.

Gee, if you are stripping the federal reserve of power, doesn't that mean you are weakening the federal reserve instead of giving it more power? The mind reels at right wing thinking...

Other than being overblown rhetorically, I have no problem with anything Glenn said in this particular piece.

We are not yet on an unrecoverable path, but we are likely to be the first generation to leave our kids less well off if we fail to act.

Glen is an idiot, but he ain't always wrong.

He frightens his followers. I got an email from a Beck fan basically saying she has worked hard all her life and doesn't want OBAMA taking away everything. It reminded me of the commie scare of my childhood when I thought the COMMUNISTS were going to come and live with me - 12 families to a house. That kind of thing. I would concede to Beck humor if I could find it or anything positive as well about his hysteria.

I'd love to know if/how you responded to that email, and how [the sender - a friend of yours?] took it. I used to get Bill O'Rielly talking point emailed to me by one of my con friedns. After a dozen or so debunking, he stopped sending them. Still proudly declares that he "gets his news from Bill O'Rielly" though. It amazes me what garbage people will believe these days. This country is almsot comletely devoid of critical thinking skills. It's disgusting.

Here's sometthing that should be required reading.

Only in a manner that has underwritten/reduced the penalty for poor decision-making. We have done nothing to reduce our long-term structural finance problems - we have increased them.

One can argue that may have been needed in the short-term but increased deficit spending seems to be the only plan for the future as well.

Because otherwise, it sounds like you just want more of the laissez faire practices that got us in trouble in the first place.

His budget is only a little bit bigger than Bush's. (I can't remember the exact #, but it's on the order of a 30% increrase.) Bush's budgets looked so much smaller because he never included the cost of two (trillion dollar) wars in it. We still have to pay for those all the same. Obama's including those in his, so all your really doing is getting better idea of what we've REALLY been spending for the past eight years. At least OBAMA wants those wars to actually END at some point.

            One more thing...

You're conflating SPENDING with BORROWING. It's TRUE that Obama is BORROWING "more money than all presidents combined," but that was also true of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. It's just plain false however to say that he's "SPENDING more money than all presidents combined."

The modifier "we're" implies Beck himself is included.
