I can't even write. How on earth are the con apologists going to spin this absurdity? The absolute insanity of this statement is making my head hurt.

From a Frank Rich column of a few years ago:

Trying to square Mr. Condit's sex life with his conservatism, William Bennett, the born-again moral relativist, declared, 'Hypocrisy is better than no standards at all.'"
So Rush is just trying to promote brotherhood among the situationally ethical.

Saw a football game a few years ago where all the penalties were called on one team. I thought it was because the other team played clean, but after hearing limpaugh, I now understand. Apparently the other team played without rules.

      "Society needs hypocrisy..."

In that case, Rush deserves a Congressional medal for public service.

You know, in recognition of things like demonizing drug addicts and then becoming one himself.

It only took ~5 hrs....actually surprised it took that long:
Has anyone dusted off the old line, "Democrats have no morals, so when they cheat it's not a big deal"? I really hope someone does by today.

      WHAT?!?!?!

All right... time for a coup. We need to break into his studio while he is on the air and drag him away, this is way too much. He needs to be put away for his own good.

      And the country's good too.

If you actually lived up to the morals you proclaimed, then you wouldn't be a hypocrite. There could still be people who didn't proclaim those standards, and the behavior of those people would demonstrate the difference. So no, hypocrisy is absolutely not necessary whatsoever, even under the idea that we need to demonstrate that we have standards.

You're wasting your time, B. Anyone that needs it explained to them is too far lost for reason, logic or indeed basic vocavulary to penetrate their thick, rocky skulls.

There is no doubt that the exercise of power requires a certain amount of hypocrisy. That's one of the reasons that politicians have always been held in low repute, generally. But when a party bases its appeal to the citizenry on its "values," its adherence to "traditional morality and the sanctity of the family," and then sees its first team and its bench trample on those values, the level of hypocrisy is too high for most to swallow. Of course, many conservative spokesmen will, as one of Sanford's Republican critics at home did, talk about "redemption and forgiveness." On a personal level, that's fine. In the public sphere however, it doesn't work that way.

As far as the larger picture that Jabba is huffing about goes, he's coming down on the wrong side (if morality is, indeed, important to him)of one of Socrates' basic questions: "Is it better to be just, or merely to be thought just?"

Aristotle answered that the way to achieve happiness was actually to pursue virtue. Rush obviously disagrees.

"Hypocrisy shows that there are moral values in a culture"

True... but it does this by exposing those individual exceptions who DON'T have any, relative to said moral society.

It's amazing how the most egregious examples are all republican.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY? WHY IS RUSH ALWAYS GETTING SO MUCH ATTENTION ON MMA? It seems he knows just how to rub you guys the wrong way. What is wrong with that picture when Rush Limbaugh has your attention every day on this network? I don't particularly believe that we are being asked to refute anything Rush is saying or doing, I think that it is a style of constant fighting and dislike. I'm not easily manipulated and Rush is ? BLAH

        Latanza,

It is important to respond to a guy like Rush because to remain silent...indicates that you agree with his assinine comments...I, for one, detest them...yea, yea, I do not have to listen to them but unfortunately, there are people out there that will listen and believe his spewings and that could prove dangerous for some!

I disagree with this theory and you should step back and take a look at the engagement you are involved in. Step back and take a look at how to refute him, not argue with him. This is becoming a host for "party" racism. Republicans against the Democrats" a lot of the time and you have become distracted from what your goal and talent is. The four functions and Five ethical goals of media are what? It is not to argue with Rush Limbaugh and go word for word or comment for statement with him. You got off of the trail of bread crumbs. Check this out- You can use every word that Rush says against them in the upcoming Presidential election in 2012. This is a man that the Republican Party put on the front lines and by silently not doing anything about him, they endorse his theology and racism. This is how you present the Republicans and the low standard they will resort to as far as race bashing and disrespect to the President of the United States of America. This is the character of their party. Okay, Pause there! Second, You have to allow him to vocalize because some important officials are writing in to Rush to ask him to spew these things. Listen carefully at the leads they are providing. You will gain a ton of information into why the government is run the way it is and if they really think they work for our interest or their power, authority and privelege of their family legacy. These are the decendants of tobacco crop growers, Alcohol distillers, medicine labs, and clothing manufactures, and other slave trade treasures and imports. Listen carefully as to how and why they are upset! They have had a strong hold on slavery and oppression through the design of financial markets and credit scoring and job markets. They are angry because these policies have been revisited and will now be fairly designed (not based on race). The adverse and illegal imports and relationships with countries are going to be haulted and this will become a heavy instance. Not one that can not be dealt with though. There will be a truth in government that will upset the corrupt approaches and practices of government officials. Rush is not addressing policy. he is addressing the correcting of racketeering! Again, calm down. Don't be above self reproach where you can't admit you may be wrong. Ask the intelligent questions and release the idiots and neandrathals. Force Rush to battle on your home court, not on his.
