It's funny... Cap and Trade used to be a bi-partisan movement, it used to be this was the only way to get the "Free Market" folks to go along with environmental policy.

Cap and Trade creates business... it brings the Free Market into environmental policy and it has been working for years in other countries. Why are we, as a nation, such neanderthals when it comes to these things.... oh wait, now I remember... Republicans.

I've noticed that the Fox crew and the Republicans are very much in favor of corporate freedom.

      Personal freedom, not so much.

Of course it doesn't make sense. It's Michelle Bachmann--and for that matter, she's on Glenn Beck.

Also, hey, we can't murder people in America. I mean, either you're for freedom or you're not. Right Bachmann? You loon.

I'd love to see someone use that line the next time they're talking to her about abortion or gay marriage.

Or the leagalization of marijuana; or a pateint's right to die.

Or the religious freedom of any non-funny-mentalist, pseudo-christian, evangelical, bible-humping nutbag. But then... they never seem to understand THAT one.

This is an energy tax in disguise. Energy prices go up but it's done in such a roundabout and convoluted manner that proponents hope the public doesn't recognize it as a tax -- at least not until it is too late. Otherwise it would suffer the same fate as the 1993 BTU tax, which was both defeated and became a political liability for those who supported it.

Energy tax? So, allowing companies to try and pay their way out of wrecking the environment is a tax, even though the system (under Waxman-Markey) is voluntary? There are so many things wrong with your statement that I can't begin to refute them.
What I will say is that we have enough trouble with Ogoni villagers getting their heads caved in and faulty tankers piloted by drunks to split hairs on the issue. But, hey, it's not like this is the only planet we've colonized...

        ... oh, sh--

Once again, as long as conservatives are in control of government, having the Fed take away your rights is okay, especially when pursuing illegal wars to build wealth for Halliburton.

-But-, when liberals take control and want to limit non-renewable fuel consumption, then government is bad and evil. No facts were stated, only opinions which seem to need to be shouted. It makes them seem more 'forceful'.

Also, I've been watching CSPAN and the ongoing debate on this bill today, and it is surprising how many Republicans are appalled at the effects this bill will have on small business. Surprising because conservatives are behind BIG business, and enjoy squeezing out and destroying small business.

But, they can't very well stand on the floor of the House and say, "We're afraid this bill will cost our billionaire friends in the oil and coal industries some of their ridiculous profits." So, they're forced to pretend to be champions of small business. If only they really were.

I'll bet her constituents in Minnesota's 6th squirm every time she manages to find a TV Camera. She's a walking talking campaign commercial for any opposition candidate.

Uh, Michele, the largest tax increase is the FICA tax enacted under Reagan, a guy who raised taxes on a regular basis.
It's not a $2 Trillion tax increase and it wasn't a vote against freedom, her usual hyperbole notwithstanding. This is a truly addled woman.
