Yep. There's NO other reason not to emulate George Bush's foreign policy. Well spotted, Droopy.

Britt, the regime wasn't beating people when the President was still pushing for negotiations. Why instigate? Follow your own path until it is time to act. Do the Cons want us to now prempt any elections we feel will be unfair? And where do we stop interferring? Will we complain about an election in Germany? If so, we should start in this country.

Freedom, does this man really believe that if the protesters were successful that Iranians would be free? From what? The religious zealots control the country. Who is going to vote them out??

Monday morning QB'ing and it is only June.

Let me use another of GWBushs' words...WMD's or Mushroom Cloud...As mentioned above, by avoiding anything BushII said or did, you have a 95% chance of being right.

Right. We didn't want freedom in 2000.... we wanted justice. Sometimes it seemed like we lost a little of both over the following 8 years.... oh, well.

Why does Hume think "freedom" and "justice" are mutually exclusive?

If a child says he wants candy, that doesn't stop him from wanting ice cream, too. (Sometimes you have to bring things down to Hume's level so he may understand.)

It's so difficult for me to believe that some of my fellow Americans listen to this horsesh*t and think it's intelligent analysis. Are they just fooled by Hume's affected "newsman voice"? Who takes these failures seriously? I watch these shows sometimes, but I'm generally LOL'ing at the emptiness of has-beens like Brit.

Still trying to convince their out-of-touch audience that Obama was "two beats behind the music" because he didn't put on some knee-jerk display of platitudes, because he didn't react by screeching "FREEDOM!!" repeatedly.

Or does Hume actually believe this himself, that Obama should have emulated the failed policies of Dubyah, but didn't do so only for fear of alienating sane people??

        Incredible.

Nah col., they're just idiots. All you have to do is glance at the upper reich corner of your blog box to see that thumbs down to realize some people don't care what you have to say, they just hate you for being you.

It is relaxing to know that the man with the ability to create war has the sense to listen, dissect and act. Much better than our previous President who was prompted to react to any situation. Times have CHANGED.

One thing for sure. Prez Obama may not get everything he wants but he is surely putting ulcers into the minds of the Cons/Repugs by backing and explaing his desire to CHANGE things.
The mouthpieces are showing thier true colors, black-hearts, by disagreeing with every little statement this President makes.
And for those who always fell for the Limbaugh 'just joking' routine, how do you know this President isn't 'just joking' when he makes little statements which cause the Talkers to freak-out?
Mon Colonel, you have the same problem I have..I laugh when I hear these REPEATERS toe the company line. Sometimes, they are a day behind the marching orders which have shifted and they sound stupid...ala Quinn and Rose.

According to Wikipedia, we just missed his birthday last week.... Apparently, Fox provided him with a copy of their own Super Patriot Dictionary and Thesaurus!

The President could not promise anything to the Iranian people. Unless the President was in control of the Iranian government and could somehow assure things based on that premise. The Iranian people seek justice because with justice comes a different kind of freedom. You have finance, education, a voice, an equalateral and obligational account to conflict resolution. You must take into account that freedom can be chaos without justice. Justice has structure and form and policy to enforce those freedoms. Remember, as reminded by Glendon, that "with freedom we have responsibility". And justly, those responsibilities must be held accountable and evenly as we in America have employed as the Check and Balance System of Congress. We have freedom, justly, and so the President is intelligent in placing this effort in accord with freedom. The people there do experience freedom, not so much free will though. Adapt to the concept and aim of justice in freedom and you will understand why you do not have to speak for the President, are not the President, and why he does not have to justify his thinking based on your particular like.

Well said, Latanza. I think this confusion comes from a mind set that is pretty common to conservatives, the idea that The U.S. is in charge of the entire planet. I often hear Republicans I know discussing foreign policy in terms of what we should "allow" other nations to do, or what actions we should take against foreign leaders, not based on anything illegal they're doing, but just because they're doing something we don't like.

It's very simple and childlike, but it does eliminate a lot of difficult thinking.
