Know whom I would call a "genuine lunatic"?

      Someone who --

      - believes its Obama's fault that Mark Sanford had an affair
      - believes its Obama's fault that Michael Jackson is dead
      - believes that healthy people are the cause of high health-care
      - believes legalized rape would be a modern Civil Rights Act
      - still isn't sure after all this time where Obama was born
      - compares the MN recount to the Iranian election

Now -- who does that describe?

"Genuine lunatic" is a trait shared by many comedians like Franken, as well as sociopaths such as yourself. The difference with Franken is that he has many other traits as well, including a functioning brain, the ability to learn, and the ability to push every button you possess, making you dance to his tune.

You, Rush, are a "genuine lunatic." But you aren't funny.

I guess I was wrong. I thought Limpy would ignore Senator Franken's victory. Sort of like BillO when he refuses to say Olberman's name.

Rush is still sulking because Al called him a big, fat, liar. He couldn't take the ugly truth when it hit him in the face. And he has gone out of his way to prove Al's original point ever since.

The irony here is too delicious.

Limbaugh starts as an 'entertainer' who talks about the news.

Franken starts as a comedy writer and actor, and for a time delivers jokes about the news as Weekend Update anchor on SNL.

Limbaugh fails to be funny on a FoxNews comedy show where he's cast as President Limbaugh (with Ann Coulter as VP).

Franken runs for a senate seat and wins.

      Limbaugh lashes out.

      Franken is a class act.

Rush was looking in the mirror when the term "Genuine Lunatic" sprung to mind.

But he is right, the Republicans can't stop anything... fortunately for him enough Democrats are in the pockets of the Health Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies too, so that genuine Health Reform probably won't pass.

Franken put his politics in the public forum where he has the potential to actually make a difference rather than be a sideline critic. Voters decided and via the slim margin proved the old cliche that yes, every vote does indeed matter.

Limbaugh can make all the bluster he wants, but he's not putting anything on the line. Franken did and the people chose him as their representative in government. And he's been a class act throughout the electoral process, not some wisecracking commentator with an axe to grind.

      Vox populi.

Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot. Or did someone say that already?

Vox Populi, you are absolutely correct. The people put Franken in the Senate and their will should be heeded, for better or worse. I was never a huge fan of Sonny Bono's but he did his best to represent his district, I think the same can be said for Fred Grandy. And Al Franken has something that Ronald Reagan never had, a great education from a leading university. Reagan was a C student from a mediocre school, afterall.

From Rush, that's quite a compliment. Even as a MN resident, I had no idea that Franken was that good.

I agree. There can't be any better bill of good psychological health than a diagnosis as a lunatic by the drug-addled Boss Hogg. It's like having NAMBLA describe you as having strange sexual orientation.

        OT, but one of my favorite bits on Franken's radio show was a clip he played often of Hogg talking to a dittohead caller. The caller is asking Rush for advice on how to respond to people who accuse him of being brainwashed, and letting Rush do his thinking for him.Guess which of the following is closest to FatBoy's answer;

        A. Tells the caller to study up on the issues, educate himself, and be prepared to rebut these charges using his own independent thoughts.

        B. Carefully dictates a script to the dittohead, to be memorized and repeated the next time he's accused of parrotting Rush.

It made me laugh as hard the 10th time I heard it as it did the first time.

Time to reread Al Franken's Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot. Is that coloring Rush's opinion of Franken, or is he just a big fat idiot?

Notice how Rush can't even say Franken's name? Al Franken has OWNED Rush ever since he pointed out the obvious, but until then unspoken, truth in "Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot". And now all Rush can do is refer to Franken as a lunatic. Franken, because he posesses three things Limbaugh does not, humility, the ability to laugh at himself, and awareness of his shortcomings, would probably take this as a compliment.

I'm a Franken fan and a loyal Democrat, but I did see a poster that made me laugh today.

      "It's Franken's Time".

      Say it out loud.

Anyway, I thought it was a cute play on words.
