Funny, but when is foxnews going to be at least scrutinized for this deliberate dishonesty? Colbert is helping them get a pass on yet another instance in a pattern of dishonest identification that identifies a scandalous repub politician as a democrat. Those fox propagandists are insidiously clever in deceiving their base viewers into believing democrat is automatically associated with scandal - even when its one of their favorite repub politicians! Fox knows their viewers are aware Sanford is a repub - but they also know how to manipulate the images by subliminally accociating scandal with democrat.

Foxnews ONLY makes this "mistake" when a scandal is affecting a repub. When we talked about it in another forum, fox apologists were certain it was just a mistake to identify foley as a democrat, but what honest 'news' orgs ever do the same - and so often under these same circumstances????

Yet, according to the teabaggers, Colbert is a serious conservative and we just don't get his humor.

Tip of the Hat to Stephen.

A conversation with a conservative friend of mine:

Me: So what conservatives do you listen to?
        Friend: Beck, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Colbert...
Me: Whoa whoa whoa! Steve Colbert?
Friend: Oh yeah! He's the best!
        Me: You serious?
        Friend: Hell yeah!
Me: You know he is doing a parody right?
Friend: Well duh! He wouldn't be on Comedy Central if it wasn't funny.
Me: (confused at first)No... a parody. You know? He is making fun of people from the right.
Friend: Dude! Do you even watch the show?
Me: I've seen it many times. You?
Friend: He's making fun of liberals. I never heard him do a joke about conservatives.
Me: But, the character he plays is the joke.
Friend: I don't know which Colbert you're watching, but that isn't the guy I know.
        Me: Are you serious?
Friend: Yeah! I mean I can get how you would think that he was a joke because he is so over the top... but, look at Bill O'Reilly.

I currently avoid any and all conversations with this person that involve any more complexity of thought than weather, sports, or family.

Colbert's speech at the White House Correspondents' Dinner is a national treasure. And so are Colbert and his writers.

AMAZING! I had a similar conversation just last week, and with a person I thought I knew. His rabid conservatism made him an idiot, but his take on Colbert put him completely over the top. Ha, Ha!

"What regular people like Joe the plumber need are tax cuts for the rich and more offshore drilling, not universal health care or last names"- Stephen Colbert.

I guess conservatives thought he was being serious.

I also wonder what a conservative who likes Colbert thinks when he watches something like this. Do they nod enthusiastically when Colbert argues that instead of putting a (D) next to scandal-plagued republicans, Fox News should simply blame clinton for Repuke scandals instead? Do they just refuse to acknowledge when Colbert is obviously making fun of Fox? There's gotta be something more to it than just stupidity. I mean, no one could be that stupid, right?

You'd think so but I've seen intelligent, seemingly normal people spout the same crap that Beck or O'Reilly spout.

I'm close to giving up on the human race.

Add Hannity and Savage to the line up your friend listens to and you have the list my friend listens to. She listens to all their shows t.v. and radio all day everyday. While doing yard work her radio is right there. She refuses to listen to "main stream media" her only reading material is the Drudge Report. She thinks I am being very open minded to listen to and love Colbert considering my liberal views. LOL

Colbert: He is simply unequaled at what he does.
That segment is just brilliant. We need more of this.
