That's my favorite scene in Beetle Juice, but I digress. How is winning the majority in an election make this a "banana republic"? If anything, we were a banana republic from 2000 to 2008.

I went there, too. I was thinking how great it would be if everyone reenacted that scene while honoring our new National Anthem.

It's not winning an election, per se; it's persecuting officials of the preceding administration that, in part, defines a "banana republic". Reluctantly, I must admit that Rush is making a valid point this time.

That was the most entertaining Rush has ever been!!

Does Rush think we're a Banana Republic?
Funny... I don't see armed military on the streets.

The sad thing is... that if we were a Banana Republic and President Obama was truly a dictator, we'd have had Universal Healthcare January 28th.

If we were a Banana Republic Rush would have already been shut up, shut down, and shut out. So Rush, shut up already.

In my voting life, which corresponds with the rise of Righteous Reich Republicans, when I have expressed anger or frustration with policies of the U.S. government, and a fervent desire for my country to live up to the ideals expressed in both our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, I have been called un-American or unpatriotic even though I never expressed a desire to see Reagan or Bush fail and only wanted the best for my country. Rush and the other Fauxies are always saying that liberals hate America, but what can you say about a man who has repeated wished the President, and hence the country would fail and he proclaims us a banana republic! How is this love of country? The 53% of the votes cast by 70% of the eligible registered voters were cast for Barack Obama, a record not shared by any of the Republicans in the last 30 years, but somehow, his Presidency makes us a banana republic. How rude! How insulting to the people! How insulting to the country. America spoke loudly and clearly, shouldn't he listen?

47% of the people did not vote for Obama. 53% is hardly a "landslide" or a "mandate".

I think Rush's theme song is "Comfortably Numb".

Ironically enough, if Rush actually knew the history of WHERE the whole banana republic thing came from, he'd realize that if we were indeed a banana republic, we'd be lead by big business, and the folks who run said companies.

Some identifying features of a Banana Republic:
Reliance on foreign capital - check
      Money printing - check
      Massive budget deficits - check
      A weakening currency – check
Looks like once again Rush is right.
