      What savage attacks?

First, she got tossed softballs from everywhere. I mean, again, how hard is the question, "What periodicals do you read?". The Couric interviews were ridiculously easy, and she botched them.

Second, how does she expect she'll be received by the media when, even before she talked to many of them, she was attacking them. She went out of her way to make enemies of the media, and now she, and her allies, are mad that the media dare to write negative stories about Princess Sarah.

The amount of victimhood Palin plays is simply, and utterly amazing. For a counterpoint, look at Obama. He has been actually savaged for months now by the conservative media, and he doesn't go off talking about suing people for defamation.

Stick the proverbial fork in her folks, she's done.

I'm not a "liberal," and you, sir, based upon your comments on this post, are no conservative. You have attached yourself to folks like Rush, et al, because he supports your intolerance and ignorance of what is REALLY going on around you. Folks like you who have no concept what the terms "liberal" and "conservative" mean. You listen to these entertainers who spew this nonsense because you agree with the nonsense, not because you or they are "conservative."

As I said, Rush Limbaugh is laughing at you . . . all the way to the bank because he has convinced you and a few million other folks that he cares. Guess what, he doesn't.

              Carry on!

What the hell are you babbling about? Rush doctored the transcript on the "phony soldier" show. I also seem to recall that Republicans tried to pass legislation condemning moveon.org for the "general betrayus" ad. So how is that not using the power of the federal government to shut up private citizens? Was Rush up in arms over that?

Ri-ight. OK. I'll spell this out for you really slowly. Rush Limbaugh wasn't criticized for talking about the concept of "the magical negro", which has been in circulation among film scholars and cultural critics since 2001 when Spike Lee introduced the term in talks at Washington State University and Yale University. He was criticized because used David Ehrenstein's LA Times piece as an excuse to air ad nauseam a song in which Paul Shanklin sang in a "Al Sharpton" voice, shouting through a bullhorn about how Sharpton felt angry that he was being upstaged by someone who was not "authentically" black like he was.

Limbaugh wasn't "exposing the left". Limbaugh was delighting in the opportunity to use an N-word, thinking that he was shielded from accusations of racism by three layers of ventriloquism: Limbaugh --> Shanklin --> Sharpton --> Ehrenstein.

If Limbaugh had a serious point to make about the left, don't you think he might have found a more serious way to make it than by playing a Peter Paul and Mary song sung by a guy pretending to be Al Sharpton shouting a mischaracterization of a column by an LA Times columnist through a megaphone?

Arent you embarassed to be so ignorant and brainwashed? The magic negro column was about a REAL discussion on race discussing a specific type of character in movies. Rushs racist idiotic song was just an excuse to call Obama a negro over and over. If you cant tell the difference then you are too simple to be talking about politics and I understand why you tune in to Rush so he can do all your thinking for you. I must say you cells of the Limborg are just sad.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure he hasn't finished out his 2 terms yet, which is normally when you judge a President. Sort of like Bush. I mean, if we just said on 12-Sep-01 that his approval ratings were good to go, no need to remember the rest of his terms, then he would have been the best President EVER.

Now, the fact that still over 60% of the US approves of how Obama is doing his job is enough for me, to know, that right now, the country approves of him. Only time will tell if he's the "worst" ever, but I'm pretty sure regardless of what happens, George W will be ahead of him on the "worst" ever list.

              * An energy policy that's not written by big oil?

              * An approach to foreign policy that advocates thought before action?

              * An economic model that favors small business rather than corporate behemoths grown 'too big to fail'?

              * A campaign based on issues and ideas rather than personal attacks?

              * Recognizing that Pharma and the insurance industry should not be allowed to dictate health insurance policy?

Your side knows NOTHING about what being a 'patriot' truly is - and no, it isn't standing in the streets going rah-rah whilst holding the flag and denigrating the President with racial slurs.

Obama is the worst person to occupy the WH? You base that on, what, SIX MONTHS??? No, that's not it, not by a long shot. You say it because you are TOLD to say it by jackasses like Limpy and his clones.

And since Obama gets so many softballs, as you say, you can provide some examples right?

The media, if you've been paying attention, is far from being in the tank for Obama, this website pretty much proves that out on a daily basis.

Obama never went after Rush. Never. He made a comment about the man once, because someone asked him a direct question about Limbaugh. Same for Gibbs.

You really should learn how to compose proper sentences. I don't normally comment on things like that in a forum such as this, but trying to put yourself out there as some authority on something you should learn how to write a little better so that it does make sense.

Do you agree with them that overthrowing the government sounds peachy-keen and just what this country needs? Ah, but therein lies the rub.

Truth: a fact that has been verified
Opinion: a belief that may or may not be backed up with evidence, but which cannot be proved with that evidence.

No, it's what Dumbya, Bush I, and reagan did. Remember when Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh were wetting themselves while screaming "Deficits Don't Matter!"?

What Obama has done is put Dumbya's off-budget spending back into the budget so it can be controlled, something Dumbya was too incompetent to imagine, let alone accomplish. And all Cheney cared about was his "deferred compensation" war profiteering gains.

We are about to see double digit interest rates - last time i paid that much for a mortgage ol' Jimmy was in control. I want to be wrong but fear I am right in that we are headed own a steep slope before anything positive happens - but if the dollar has been abandoned then the recopvery will be very slow - just ask chavez about what happens when you follow in his footsteps.

Good gravy. You can't even understand the pun, can you? The word is abomination. The president is Obama. You somehow managed to swing and miss at the world's most unoriginal and obvious combination of those two words, and ended up with "Abamanation" -- a new word that refers to neither "Obama" nor "Abomination" and yet still has one clear meaning: that its creator has no idea what he or she is talking about.

You all claim that you're so intellectually superior to the right, but all I hear is venom and name calling from this side. Why is it, that no matter what the topic is, in these threads, 75% of the posts have some kind of dig at Limbaugh? Are you guys THAT consumed with him? You say he is insignificant, but a vast majority of posters here always have something to say about him. Sounds like jealousy. What else can it be? You guys tell me. Is it that the left has no one as popular as him?

What savage attacks? is what I was going ask too. She was treated with kid gloves during the election cycle by the MSM. My brother made the claim right after the election that she was treated horribly but he couldn't tell me in what way other than people were calling her dumb after the Katie Couric interview. Fair enough but it wasn't the MSM or any pol calling her dumb. It was the regular people she supposedly connects with so well and if all you know about her is that interview then you'd be hard pressed to come to any other conclusion. As to what she's done to deserve being attacked: She lied about her record, she lied about Obama, she lied about the bridge to nowhere... Why do Reps get away with this? A Dem tells one lie and he's branded for life. Or worse doesn't lie at all and is still branded a liar (like Al Gore.) Reps get caught in lies all the time yet never get branded that way.

The Republitoads are doing what they do best; fabricating a narrative. All of a sudden, Simple Sarah is a victim, spat upon by the Evil Leftists because she's a Woman with five kids.

Two things to consider. First, Palin was no innocent bystander during the campaign. I think we can dig up some clips of her taking some very nasty, dishonest swipes at Barack Obama.

Second, the treatment of Simple Sarah pales in comparison to the sh*tstorm that befell Hillary Clinton during the 90s, largely from the same people who are now whining about how Palin has been treated.

Palin was vilified by the Left because she's a Troglodyte Evangelical throwback who wanted to be a 70-year-old heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the world, an office for which she is grossly unqualified.

She was chosen to rally the Evangelical Republican Base, nothing more, nothing less. I feel no guilt or sympathy for the way she was treated.

They blame the Clinton's for 8 yrs. of Bush and the 8yrs. he was in office. Wasn't it over 52 million they spent on trying to get the Clinton's?

I'm not sure what Obama did wrong... to justify the savagery of the attacks on him.

To his credit he suffered all of your slings and arrows and won the greatest election in our nations history with grace and dignity.

She however, lost the greatest election in our nations history and did so at the cost of her grace and dignity. She suffered all of the slings and arrows and crumbled beneath them until she finally has shown us who she really is... a quitter.

i read some of the e-mails that went back and forth between her campaign and the higher ups of the mccain campaign. she actually wanted the mccain campaign to put out a statement denying that todd was a member of the "alaska independence party", which is how the voter registration reads. the fact is that he belonged to a secessionist party, and she addressed their convention, and she wanted the campaign to deny he was a member. and the e-mail that came back pointed out that he did belong to the party and it was better to let sleeping dogs lie because the minute they denied it, the press would be all over it. [which they should have been anyway]

Truth? You do realize that very little of what you hear on Fox and/or talk radio is "truth," right? It is OPINION. There is a HUGE difference.

"truth": a fact that has been verified.

"opinion": a belief that may or may not be backed up with evidence, but which cannot be proved with that evidence

No one on Morning Joe even touched on the real reason for the dislike of Palin: SHE IS GROSSLY UNQUALIFIED TO BE ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY FROM THE PRESIDENCY. McCain's selection of her was an insult to every American, because she is so extremely unqualified, especially in this time of deep and complex problems created by previous president who was also unqualified.

It's not, as Mika said, because she is a woman and has 5 kids. (Remember the attacks against Dan Quayle?) And it's not because, as Danny Deutsch said, because Americans just don't know what to make of an attractive woman run for high office.

It is because her resume was of one of the most unqualified candidates in history and she had never been vetted. She has no history of intellectual curiosity or interest in international affairs, economics, history, etc. And no significant educational background. She was simply unqualified, and Americans who realized this, quite understandably, reacted with strong disgust.

I wish someone would shout this out to Mika and get her over this simplistic crusade she's been suckered into that this is all based on discriminatory attitudes toward women.

Yes, and she feels a higher calling to protect the country from people who dont' think she is wonderful! She might be fine as a member of the House, and she is qualified for local government, but she isn't qualified for national leadership. I have intellectual curiousity, a middle class background and a much better education than she does (obtained from small public universities of middle standing) but the difference is that I know I don't belong up on the national stage and she hasn't figured that out yet.

although i think mccain would have still lost, it would have been much closer with another v.p. candidate. she was the flavor of the month for about a week. and then all the shine wore off. you not only had to question her qualifications, but his judgement in doing something so rash. if he had put it out a week before he picked her that she was on the short list, the press would have gone into overdrive and dug up a lot of stuff on her and done the investigations that should have been done. she has no views that advance beyond bumper sticker thinking.

Sarah Palin dragged her kids on stage and made the family the center of attention and then didn't like it that jokes were made of her dragging her kids into the spotlight. She says jokes were made about her son, but she is the one who signed the e-mail announcing him as "Trigg's Creator, Your Heavenly Father", I find this a bit pretentious, not to mention sacriligious, but that is just me. I never attacked her looks, because she is a very attractive woman. I did do a double-take when I heard how much she spent on clothes, because that is certainly out of touch from mainstream America, and she didn't need to wear a $3200 designer jacket to look professional. What made me dislike Governor Palin was her obvious and unrepentant lack of awareness of world issues that was the product of her a mediocre education. Then there is the constant cry that she is being picked on. As far as I can see, the worst things being said about her are from her constituents in Alaska and the Republicans who handled her during the national campaign. She is an undereducated, overly ambitious opportunist who has built a career out of using and discarding people to further her own ambitions and blaming them when things don't work out her way. I watched her press conference live on Friday and couldn't really make much sense out of what she was saying. I also can't think of any office holders who resigned in mid-term merely to avoid being a lame duck or for a "higher calling". She seems to be about cutting her losses and running when she seems that she can't win the game and that isn't a very good team player, as far as I am concerned, but then, I don't like sports, so maybe I don't understand.

Well, if she didn't give them back, I hope she claimed the value on her taxes, because that little mistake cost Ol'Nancy Reagan a pretty penny or three. Buchanan just has the hots for this bimbo [and yes, I am a woman, and yes, she is a bimbo.] I didn't listen to the "savage attacks" against Palin. My impression of Palin was formed during the RNC. First, with her self-serving and brutal announcement regarding her teenaged daughter's pregnancy. This was done simply to deflect the rumors that had been swirling around Alaska for months prior to her nomination regarding the parentage of Trig. As a mother, I cried for her daughter, who she had humiliated in front of MILLIONS of people. Second, her disjointed, divisive and hateful speech. My grown son and I watched the speech together and he was just as appalled as I was.

This woman does NOT represent true Christianity NOR true conservatism. She is a self-serving narcissist who will walk on ANYONE to get what she wants.

'What do you know about Christianity?'

I'm sort of treating this as an open question. I do happen to know a little bit about Christianity, having been involved in local churches most of my life.

Sarah Palin's public life in many ways does not conform to what Christ was teaching. Lying, obsessive self interest, the way she apparently treats staffers or indeed anyone who dares contradict her, these are all un-Christian. It is true that the neo-cons have, for all intents and purposes, hijacked Christianity for their own purposes, but that does not make them Christian, nor does it make them a reliable source of information about the nature of Christianity.

I wasnt talking to you, but since you replied: being involved in churches doesnt mean you know anything about Christianity. Judging by the rest of your post, Id say you should open your Bible a little more and speak a little less. You have no idea about how she treats her staffers but you have no problem slinging that accusation out there. Obsessive self interest? Isnt it obvious that the Bible does not advocate such baseless attacks on others?? You said you "know a little bit about Christianity". Why do you despise this woman so much?

Being involved in churches doesn't make me a Christian any more than putting a kitten in an oven makes it a biscuit, you are quite correct. But, I have studied the Bible, and have had it taught to me.

I have no first-hand idea how she treats her staffers, no. I seemed to recall e-mails indicating she is difficult to work for, but I can't seem to source them, so I'll lay that one aside.

As for the lying, it's obvious that she is a liar. She told a number of lies, easily checkable lies, during the campaign, and was caught lying. Bridge to nowhere? Alaska's jet?

Obsessive self interest? How about parading her unmarried daughter on stage as an example of what teaching abstinence in the schools is actually getting us? How selfish that was of Sarah Palin to do such a thoughtless and horrible thing to her own child, the mother of her first grandchild.

I am not attacking her. I do not despise her. I am pointing out that if she wishes to be an example of how to lead a Christian life, she should actually conform to the principles Christ laid down. Teachers of the Law and leaders are called to a much higher standard in the Bible.

As far as baseless attacks, I admit to not being able to find evidence about her staff, and retract that point, though I did believe it to be true at the time. By that I mean I was not making a spurious argument simply out of a spirit of meanness. The rest of my points about her behavior are both honest and to the point.

I'm sorry, but your just wrong. Parading?? All polititians bring their families with them. I think being your party's VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE OF THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD merits bringing the husband and kids along! Don't you?

First, I notice you have nothing to say about her lies, so we can agree she does in fact tell lies.

She used her family for political purposes, as most politicians do, you are correct about that. However, I was pointing out Sarah using Bristol as a poster child for abstinence education, which took place -after- the campaign, all right? Sarah wanted a little more spotlight, and used her daughter's out of wedlock pregnancy to further her own political agenda. That's selfish.

I suppose we can choose a different word than parading if you think it is so inaccurate, but she is demonstrably selfish just the same. One last thing? Please don't shout. It doesn't make you seem any wiser or more perceptive or witty.

The questions about Trig's parentage were not questions of paternity but of who the actual parents were before Mrs. Palin so loving outed her daughter's pregnancy and then proceeded to treat her and that boy like a couple of prized hogs at the state fair.

I hear she has a $7 million dollar book deal in the offing. That would leave her and her survivalists husband enough money to never have to eat moose again. My question is: Why not just pose nude for Playboy, cash in, and satisfy the deviant wing of the Repug party. I know Limpjaw would crack into that suitcase of Viagra and buy a few copies, along with Sanders, Vitters and the rest of their ilk. Then finally we could move forward and start talking about important news again, like where has Paris Hilton been??

The woman lied about her resume in the first speech she gave after McCain tapped her to be his VP. She claimed to have told Congressto take the bridge and shove it but the earmark for Stevens' bridge had already been removed (although Alaska got to keep the money.)
In the same speech, she claimed that if Alaska wanted to build a bridge, they'd build it themselves. She knew, however, that in Sept. 2007 when, as governor, she announced the cancellation of the bridge, she said it was because there wasn't enough Federal money to finish it.“Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it’s clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island,” Governor Palin added.
Let's not even get into the whole "selling the plane on E-Bay" claim.

The sad part is that she kept repeating the "Bridge to Nowhere" claim even after it was debunked. This leads me to believe that we're dealing with a person of limited intelligence in Sarah Palin.

I don't find this surprising really.

I heard they had a whopping 2000 people out at the Capitol for their little Tea Party on the 4th. Amazing the numbers they can pull...

And I'll bet about 1800 of them were just tourists who got lost looking for the fireworks.

Darn, I was about to post that one! But amazing, isn't it? It's OK for republicans to call democrats nazi's but if one of us dare calls them one their thin skin cries for retribution. Much like trailer park trash Sarah, who can dish it out but can't take it. When the going gets tough, the reichpublicans quit, and this would be job number two Palin quit. I sure wouldn't want a president who has a history of quitting when it gets tough, but then I'm not a reichwinger...

You know, that little document that you and your base love to uphold but fail to understand and trample upon...?

She is going to leave us (Alaskans) in a position where any government job will be frozen, the PFD checks will be smaller or non-existent, and she will say it was not on her watch. She gave out the largest checks to all residents last year of $1100 for every resident....every resident. We are now headed toward a deficit and she does not want to get caught; rather like her sports arena in Wasilla, build it and let chips fall after.

I read on one blog that there would be more news to come. Could it be that Simple Sarah is making her getaway while she still can?

I think she's going after those millions promised to her by the Wingnut Propaganda machine, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that she is trying to dodge some upcoming investigations.

And the savage attacks were? Yet another weak, emotion-based "argument" by the right. One of the last refuges of someone with no factual rebuttal is to claim victimhood. Oh, and Buchanan and wingnuts are certainly ones to lecture on sexism.

The reason that Vanity Fair piece was so effective and so damning -- and why people like Pat have not and cannot refute it -- is because the criticism in it is entirely from Republicans.

I don't like Sarah Palin not because of her looks (which IMO aren't that impressive, actually), not because she's a woman, but because she's unqualified on every level. She doesn't have the temperament or intellect to be president, let alone hold any elected office. Hey Sarah, if you can't take that you'll be scrutinized for the most important job in the United States, then don't run. You're an elected official, not the queen. One of the cornerstones of representative democracy is that we can speak freely our elected officials. And from what I've seen, the "attacks" on Palin have been calling her out on severe character flaws, corruption, and her obvious shortcomings as an elected official. She's been exposed as a facade -- and a sniping, sneaky one at that.

I wonder what Chelsea Clinton did wrong to be called the White House Dog by right wing idiots... all the savage and negative comments about Hillary and her sexuality, as well as every other SAVAGE and unprovoked attack on her by the right. But you conveniently forget that part Pat, don't you.
