I suppose having 'a little shoot out' is a bit more noble than murder without warning. Although not a death threat he did very clearly say that he would have 'put a bullet right between his head'. Speaking about how you would/could kill someone is only minutely different than saying you are going to do it.

I would agree with you had there not been a long statement providing context, conveniently overlooked. If you stiil believe Mr. O'Reilly is guilty of felony conspiracy, I strongly urge you to contact the proper authorities so that charges can be filed and Mr. O'Reilly can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Just think, though. Had Mr. O'Reilly's fantasy been fulfilled, maybe, just maybe, Mr. Franken would have prevailed! Since no one advanced that prospect, it's likely they, like you, have little regard for Mr. Franken's dueling abilities. How 'bout a claymation grudge match?

Of course it wasn't. He was merely dreaming of Senator Franken's violent death by his hands because he couldn't beat Al in an argument to save his life.

Of course it wasn't. Then again, he would have to assume that Franken followed the same path as O'Reilly in the Wild West.

A duel's not a duel without a contract between two people.

What the hell am I talking about? Franken WON! Heads are either going to roll or explode over this.

Oh, there'll be plenty of excuses. We've seen plenty of 'em so far. "we guessed wrong"---"we inherited this economy from Bush"(not pelosi Frank or Dodd)---"There is not enough compromise or cooperation"---"We haven't given this enough time(as unemployment continues to rise)---"We never expected the economy to do well until the end of 2009"(that one's my favorite).

He certainly did inherit the bad economy which began declining in late 2007, after Pelosi took control of congress. One of her first "victories" was to raise the minimum wage---bad choice! With a majority in the house, Frank's push for subprime loans and Dodd's "look the other way policy" prevailed and the spiral began. BTW, has Sen. Dodd ever produced the loan documents from Countrywide? He has had almost a year to do so. Must be incriminating, otherwise he would have been more cooperative!

Once again you see no hypocrisy in dismissing blaming the economy on G-Dub and the Republicans but immediately blaming the same economy on Pelosi? You do not see that your argument makes no sense?

Also, you think the current economy started suffering in 2007!? And was caused by the minumum wage increase? What do you do for a living? I have to know.

With those who ran their banks/investment firms into the ground making millions, raising the minimum wage brought the economy down? You cannot live on $5.15 an hour. It remained unchanged fro more than 10 years as prices and the cost of living skyrocketed.

By the way, a lot of the economic crisis stems from the housing market crash, which started when Bush and his party were in power.

Riiiight . . . 'cause raising the minimum wage -- and the standard of living for millions of Americans -- is SOOOO MUCH WORSE than spending $12 billion/month looking for nonexistent WMDs in Iraq.

Well, we're all aware that Republicans and conservatives don't respect the will of the voters. They're perfectly willing to rig elections and use the court system to advance their candidates (George W. Bush, Bob Reilly) while punishing their opponents (Don Siegelman, Al Gore, every statewide Democratic officeholder in Texas.) In trashing Franken's election victory, O'Reilly's merely confirming what we already knew about how he views elections and democracy.

Agree, he IS an embarrassment. The truth of the matter is that it's a sad day for BillO himself and a good day for MN and America. The people voted and Franken will be seated as their US Senator.

It's deceitful for BillO to not tell his viewers the REAL reason he hates Franken and that his hate goes way back to Franken's reprinting BillO's actual voter registration that proved BillO was a registered Republican and Franken's calling him out on the supposed Peabodys BillO said he won. Throw in what happened at the book show and it becomes clear that BillO would hate Franken no matter what he did.

This isn't about politics as BillO would have the viewers believe. It's all personal and petty with BillO. Franken had guts enough to put himself out there for the people to vote on and they chose him. He is giving back by serving his country while BillO is doing what serves his own best interests.

And of course, O'Reilly is really envious of Franken because Franken did what O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity and the rest would never dream of -- he put his name on a ballot, he made his case to the voters, and he had his views validated by winning an election.

Absolutely. I'm no fan of O'Reilly but I listened to his radio show daily and I have watched his show more than I probably should. That being said, O'Reilly is simply jealous. Some time ago, he was discussing HIllary Clinton and said that if nobody ran against her in New York for Senate he would do it. This is a fact. He then of course, got caught sexually harrassing a young employee and his political ambitions are history. O'Reilly loves to opine to his audience on what he would do if he were President. There are numerous more examples which clearly indicate that O'Reilly has had this dark desire to rise to public office.

Of course, this all relates to his Narcissism. It drives him nuts that his sworn enemy was able to achieve something that he so dearly wanted for himself. I for one and thankful for Andrea Mackris, because the last thing we ever needed in Washington was another conservative pervert.

BillO is most definitely jealous. Franken has been chosen by the voters despite all of BillO's rantings against him. BillO's influence isn't as great as he thinks it is. He couldn't stop the Democrats from winning Congress in 2006 despite all his nasty words about Pelosi, he couldn't stop the country voting for Obama despite all he tried to do to get them to go for McCain/Palin and now Franken has won even after all the venom BillO spewed about him. BillO the culture warrior is becoming irrelevant and now we are all getting a glimpse of his jealousy as you and 1st Republic 14th Star rightly pointed out.

I too remember hearing BillO make some comments that sounded like political aspirations but poor choices with regards to his own personal behavior have spoiled that for him. He, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and others of their ilk do not have the guts to do what Franken has done. Franken put himself out there and the voters said yes. BillO could never do that so now he sulks and lashes out at Franken and the MN voters while Franken rises to the occasion.

"Anyone have any idea what 'lies' Franken told that Bill O 'debunked' in his book? I'm sure it's a stretch to say he disproved anything."

MMFA talks about page 96 of O'Reilly's book here.

Not sure if this will copy and paste well, but here it is...

Page 96: O'Reilly falsely attacks Al Franken:

As Franken began speaking, I simply couldn't believe it. The guy told the audience that I was a pathological liar and had even lied about where I grew up. His presentation was based on a passage in his book. ... But far worse than Franken's deliberate lie about my upbringing was his reference to my mother. She has, tragically, been suffering from dementia for years and for that reason has round-the-clock supervision. Al Franken never talked with my mother or to anyone else who knows my background.

O'Reilly is referring to a passage from Franken's book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right (Dutton, 2003), regarding O'Reilly's repeated claims that he grew up in Levittown, New York, a working-class Long Island town (Pages 73-74, hardcover). Franken, however, was not simply citing "a passage in his book." In Lies and the Lying Liars, Franken noted that O'Reilly's mother was cited in the Washington Post in December 2000 as saying that O'Reilly grew up in Westbury, New York -- a wealthier community a few miles away from Levittown. O'Reilly, in attacking Franken for making this claim without speaking to his mother, ignores the fact that Franken was citing a source that had, in fact, apparently spoken with O'Reilly's mother.

At least Bill isn't playing the Victim card, like many of his cohorts... although when it comes to Al Franken, I'm sure he feels like one.

In 2003 Fox News (reportedly bullied by Bill-O) sued Penguin Publishing and Al Franken for putting the term "Fair and Balanced" on the cover of his book... "Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them." I think the best new slogan for Fox News and Bill-O is a quote from the court prelimary rulling... "wholly without merit!"

His disrespect for the millions of voters who chose to vote for Franken is stunning. His disgust in the unanimous verdict of the Minnesota Supreme Court in deciding that Franken was the legitimate winner of the race in that state is offensive. He claims that Franken is a zealot - he needs to stop looking in a mirror when he's speaking to a camera, because O'Reilly is the zealot. He claims that Franken is dishonest too, but he would be hard pressed to provide us with an example of his lies. MMfA has provided evidence of multiple lies by O'Reilly.

      http://mediamatters.org/research/200609220010

O'Reilly references page 96 in his book, Culture Warrior, as his defense of his scurrilous attacks on Franken. MMfA debunked that.

Page 96: O'Reilly falsely attacks Al Franken:

As Franken began speaking, I simply couldn't believe it. The guy told the audience that I was a pathological liar and had even lied about where I grew up. In Lies and the Lying Liars, Franken noted that O'Reilly's mother was cited in the Washington Post in December 2000 as saying that O'Reilly grew up in Westbury, New York -- a wealthier community a few miles away from Levittown. O'Reilly, in attacking Franken for making this claim without speaking to his mother, ignores the fact that Franken was citing a source that had, in fact, apparently spoken with O'Reilly's mother.

O'Reilly, you are the person who traffics in hate. That's undeniable. Put down the mirror, Bill. Just put it down.

I used to live by the credo: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” However, with O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter, and the other right wing blowhards, I find myself frequently thinking, do I really want "to defend to the death..." their right to be ignorant, foolish, and just plain wrong? No. I do not. These blowhards can fight their own battles. I will continue to point out when they are wrong, wrong, wrong.

I wouldn't call any of those listed "right wing" if you are actually referring to Conservatives, because there truly isn't a single conservative commentator on the news or television today. Since "conservative" means "conserving" the Constitution as it is written, and that doesn't mean supporting Big Business or "corporate" interests, it means "regulating" them and their influence over both legislation, and their impact on the people.

So none of those mentioned are either "conservative" or "right wing" at all. Both parties have merged, since Obama is just as much a "big business" neocon as John McCain, and supports Wall Street, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and their interests and also big corporate unions.

So nothing changes, that's a simple fact. And won't until the entire illegal Supreme Court granting "corporate personhood" rights under our Constitution is seen for the hijacking of it that it was. And the legal profession and their lobbying and influence also banned as violating the separation of powers, since they are inherently members of the judiciary.

So these type articles and moves are what the media loves, and does. Creates the "fiction" that there are two separate parties, when there are not. Both are "corporate" global socialists.

I reluctantly concede that you have a point. I keep hoping that the Democrats will prove me wrong, but that hope grows dimmer every day. If we don't get serious Healthcare Reform with 60 Democrats in the Senate, it will never happen.

I knew Bill would love this. So Bill, shouldn't a "reality check" include supportable facts and not just your half baked opinion?

Yeah, much of the time a fact check needs to be done on BillO's "reality check" segment. His "reality checks" are often based on his own biased version of reality and often conveniently leave out some of the facts and other pertinent info.

I'll see your page 96 in your book and raise you with quite a few pages in Al's books on you. Al's willing and we'll see is able to put his money where his mouth is. To actually be accountable for what he says and does. BO's charge of Franken being dishonest is what is dishonest.

When is following through on the will of the people a sad day for America? When the man who poked pins into that enormous ego-driven, windbag Bill O'Reilly, is seated in the Senate. Al Franken put his mind and his money where his mouth was and ran for office. The people picked him over two other guys and he keeps talking about sitting down to work for the people who voted for him. Yes, that is a sad, sad day. When will Fox viewers wake up to the fact that they are being played for fools by people who resent their collective will and try to force feed them drivel that says that organizations like unions are the ones out to screw them, not big corporations like Fox, who take their money and laugh all the way to the bank.

You know what really sticks in these wingnuts' craws? Franken put his money where his mouth was. He put it all on the line - and he WON. These rightwing gasbags are extremely jealous at that success; they know that they would never get elected for anything.

O'Reilly plugs his book without showing the quote itself. I'm sure he'll get an extra hundred people buying his book.

I also think he needs to adjust his quote:

With people like Franken on the hill, this country has shown nothing. With him on the hill, Minnesota has shown that they favor him over Bill O'Reilly's banter.

I think Al Franken will make an amazing senator. I've been a fan of his for years, and if it weren't for him, I never would have heard of the IAVA, The Center for American Progress, or Media Matters. He's sharp, engaging, and knows his stuff. I'm proud of Minnesota for electing him.

        It sure does.

When Franken, an intelligent, accomplished individual, wakes up tomorrow, he will be a full-fledged member of what's known as "the most exclusive club in America", able to shape and dictate policy in the USA and influence much of the world.

When Bull OhReally wakes up tomorrow, he'll still be what he is: a lying, bloviating, sexual harassing, condescending individual who has to resort to citing nonexistent periodicals to make him appear as some sort of "expert" -- and one who's not even good enough to host Inside Edition anymore.

That's what sticks in his craw.

I love how O'Reilly offers, as "proof" that his opinion is correct, his opinion as previously stated on page 96 of his book. What an intellect!

His Logic professors must be wearing paper bags over their heads about now.

Umm, How come he didn't give any real reasons for his insults against Senator Franken other then a page number in his book. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the people who have his book the ones that are already going to belive him, and the ones that need convincing wouldn't think about buying this sorry excuse for a pundits book?

It is scary, isn't it? This may send us down the path where...oh, I don't know...someday a B-movie actor could even become President of the United States! No, that's delusional, because there would be all of those embarrassing video clips of our President with monkeys and then the next thing you know his wife is consulting astrologers to help our President make big decisions. Yeah, that could never happen.

Has there ever been a more transparently thin-skined bloviator than Bill O'Reilly?
