I can see now why this REMF retired only a Lt. Col.

Well, you can't "see" very good. You SEE, Ltc. Peters was enlisted for five years before going to OCS. That would allow him to retire as a Ltc as opposed to a Col.

I don't like to quote Wiki, but I'm in a hurry today:

        Ltc. Ralph Peters

Tell the truth. You really hate him because of the Killian papers.

Actually, I don't like him because his arguments are simplistic and his tone is superior. Furthermore, the quotes in his Wiki don't make me think of him as anything but an old-style hawk who's learnt nothing since the end of the Cold War.

The reason why he shows up on Fox as much as he does is because he's a former-military baby-boomer who knows how to talk. He's got basic multi-demographic appeal. What he doesn't have is the ability to raise anything but a superficial argument. Ltc., Col., it doesn't matter: He's still full of crap.

Touche. I didn't realize he was prior enlisted. As for hating him, I don't. The President is no longer his Commander in Chief and so he is free to speak out against him. I do think it is somewhat disingenuous for many of these former officers to use a pay for play public forum to discuss their private grievances, but that is my personal opinion.

SECDEF Gates is still around. Probably 90% of the grunt analysts at the NSA CIA and DIA are the same ones who were there when President Bush was in office, so the basic intel and advisory framework is still in place. I think President Obama is probably getting the best information available on Russian intentions. To my knowledge he has yet to announce he has looked into Putin's soul and decided he could trust him.

Here's what Petersthinks of journalists: ....future wars may require censorship, news blackouts and, ultimately, military attacks on the partisan media.....journalists have positioned themselves as protected-species combatants. But freedom of the press stops when its abuse kills our soldiers and strengthens our enemies.

Peters thinks that if necessary, and wingnut bloggers will be the judges, the military should kill journalists.

David Kilcullen, who's written for smallwarsjournal.com and a new book The Accidental Guerilla says in the book that ...Peters ...[is] an angry, paranoid old man who doesn't know nearly as much about war as he'd like to believe

Two retired Ltc's pushing books and one slags another...

        Who to believe...who to believe...

Gave in to the Russian strategic framework for arms reduction?

We agreed in principle to reduce each side to 1700 warheads in 7 years. Still enough to blow each other off the globe about 3 times over. Should have gone a lot farther in my mind.

An LTC? Fox won't even spring for a star let alone a Bird? Who is this clown anyway?

He's the clown who alerted CBS that their top dog Danny Rather and five other minions were about to air a story with FALSE FORGED RECORDS all in the name of turning an election.

        Just a nobody I guess.

Actually, Rather was set up by Rove & Co. Those records were never proven to be forgeries, but acccurately reflected the opinion of the general about W. He was AWOL and because of Poppy Bush's connections, all traces were removed. Talk of election shenanigans, they were the worst.

Actually, you refer to "the general" , that is incorrect. Killian was a Lt Col, the same rank as Ralph Peters who is being ridiculed on another thread for "only" being a Lt Col. I guess when a Lt Col says want you want him to say he is credible, when he does not agree , he is not credible. Ooops, I almost forgot that basic principal of the left.

So Rather and CBS used documents that were supposed to be "the personal records " of an National Guard officer, a dead one at that. That it itself is highly questionable, why would an NG officer keep 2 sets of records. I guess he must have anticipated that one of his troops would someday run for president. Wow what anticipation!

What really happened is that a lefty "journalist" wanted to exert influence on an election and didn't bother to check his story. And it is funny how in this instance you say that the documents were never proven to be forgeries, I guess guilty until proven innocent applies in this case. I thought it was supposed to be the opposite.

You are right, I have seen O'Bama, Kerry, Clinton, Frank, Edwards, Bill Burton, Code Pink represenatatives, Acorn spokespeople, Mark Lamont Hill, Bob Beckel, Terry McAuliffe, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton , Ellis Henican and many other less than credible guests on Fox. Of course there are many others who avoid appearing on Fox because they do not want to be identified with some of the people I listed.

I love all this "drive-by" psychoanalysis. He, apparently, can look into the mind of POTUS and divine his innermost thoughts and motivations. And what is HIS background? Psychology? Behaviorial therapy? I know his motivations ($$$)

And other posters are spot-on; a light colonel is pretty far down the pecking order. What's on for next week, Sgt. Carter? Gollee!

Yes how dare we reach out to our "enemies" and try to resolve our past differences and forge a future of freindship. We should follow the Bush model and only talk to our allies so we can tell each other how great we are and talk about how much we hate Hugo Chavez.

"Vampire"? I guess the Troglodyte Think Tanks are trying to capitalize on the Pop Culture Vampire phenomenon. Of course, being Troglodytes, they're thinking of Bela Lugosi... they're too dumb to understand that Vampires are sex symbols now.

The Russian Bear is huge, and wild...
This idiot proves, beyond reasonable doubt, that all he can do is spout odd poems about bears.(OK, bad, I know, but a POEM?!)
What does this have to do with what the Summit accomplished? Nothing.
      Let's see:
PRESIDENT Obama got an agreement from Russia to let our planes fly in their airspace to get to Afghanistan.
President Obama(I love saying that!) and Prime Minister Putin agreed to reduce our nuclear warheads( Not far enough for me, but good for right now).
Wow. Sounds like a foreign policy achievement to me.
Could it be this guy is...full of it? News at 11!
