These overpaid douchebags have been whining and complaining about the stimulus bill, and how much it costs, and how slow it is for months... then they sit there and report slipping public support as if it's a surprise.

Once again, the Democrats have been outflanked by the well-funded, deeply-entrenched Republican Propaganda Machine.

      Will they ever learn?

If the stimulus was too small, it's because the major NY banks ripped off many times that amount with their ponzi scheme scam.

Unfortunately, as economic experts like Michael Hudson and Michel Chossudovsky and William Engdahl were explaining about gambling on Oil Futures was driving up the cost of oil dramatically, and speculation on Mortgage Securites packages were outright fraud made legal, and that story of Goldman-Sachs was confirmed by Taibbi in Rolling Stone, the facts are that *both* George W. Bush and Barack Obama have placed Goldman alumni in key positions overseeing financial concerns.

The Fed is run by ex-Goldman people. While I resisted the "right wing conspiracy theory" that the Fed is a privately owned company, several credible (low visibility) Lefties have confirmed that, and Alan Greenspan himself told an interviewer (Lehrer?) that the relationship between the Fed Chief and the President is "none". Greenspan advised and pressured the Government for decades to push through the laws and policies to eliminate financial regulation, such as minimum capital requirements.

I still watch it, but only for those rare appearances by Laurence O'Donnell and Katty Kay. Joe and Mika are hopeless.

Something needs to be said about the Government's budget process, while it sounds really bad that only 10% of the stimulus money has been disbursed, it isn't what is really being said. The contracting process in the government is about six months long, even under the best of circumstances. The end user must state a real need and create a project. Then the contract must be put out on the street for bidding. This bidding competition is heavily weighted towards small businesses and minority-owned businesses. That is the commitment of the funds and allocation of the funds. Disbursal is actually the cashing of the check to the contractor, at which time, the money leaves government hands. For 10% of the funds to be spent in such a short time is actually proof that there were shovel ready projects out there in the first place. It also gives some credence to Barnicle's remark about Americans being impatient, while making the Government look a lot less incompetent.

epk is absolutely right. The contracts are probably right now in the final stages of being approved. What's been done so far is work that was already contracted for, but not started for one reason (probably lack of funds) or another. I work for a government contractor and believe me, it is a long drawn out process.

In the July 8 clip, it would have been relevant for Barnicle to note that Obama has said all along that he believes health care reform is vital to economic recovery.

Barnicle presents them as two competing issues, when Obama has been very candid in saying he considers them a single problem.

Incidentally, when a talking head uses the word "anecdotally," run for the hills because he's about to pull something out of his rear end.

Why even call it a stimulus bill when most of it not going to do anything to boost the economy .
•Fresno, California will be given $1 million to dismantle tent cities and move resident's into privately owned apartments.
      Just a small example

These Republicans pushing questions of where are the jobs, money, etc. etc. from the Stimulus Bill are doing so now so they can get "ALL" the political creds in the next couple of months. Yeap, it's just as simple as that. Just watch, at the end of the Summer a whole lot of things will be happening i.e. construction on roads, bridges, federal buildings, airports, banks, hospitals, schools, etc. etc. "ALL" made possible thanks to the American Reinvestment & Recovery Act (Stimulus Bill) that the Republicans voted 97% "NO" because they did "NOT" see it helping our great Country.

So, these Republicans will push "Show-Me-the-Stimulus-Check" questions to take credit at the end of Summer by making Democrats and the White House release the money to get things moving again in America because the Republicans are watching the Stimulus money. Let's give Republicans credit for finding their way in getting their credit from the Stimulus Bill, which they opposed by 97% and said would "NOT" work. Republicans 'got game'. LOL

And what were they talking about "there was no visibility in december" people knew the economy was doing bad. The housing market had already taken a turn for the worse and GM first declared bankruptcy in December.
