      I have been watching the hearings on and off for today, and I wouldn't say that at all. I think she has handled herself very well, and there is no scuffing up.

      Sure, they all took some cheap shots at her during their opening statements, but scuffing? I don't think so. It's not as if her significant other were led away in tears, or anything like that.

        The crying reference is what occurred to me as well. Are they supposed to be deferential and respectful, or are they supposed to be combative? If the former, then why is "scuffing" supposed to be a good thing? If the latter, then why weren't questions about Alito's potential bigotry perfectly acceptable?

      It's a good thing Sotomayor has the polish and integrity to stand up to it.

      Speaking of Cameron and scuffing people up, check him out back in the day, giving Bush the beat down (from 1:10-1:40 of the clip):

      Ouch! Bush did not know what hit him.

          That's brutal, Victor. Almost as hard-hitting an interview as BilldO's grilling of W. If you never saw that, the intro went something like this;

          O'Reilly: I'd like to commend you on your courage for agreeing to this interview, Mr. President.

          W: (chuckling) I know you're gonna be tough ! (Even the slow witted W sees the absurdity)

          O'Reilly : (Not chuckling at all, looking dead serious)

          I have to give Sotomayor some credit for being as polite as she's been with some of the questioners, notably Sessions & Lindsey Graham.

          Graham was using that perfect combination of dishonesty, dopiness and condescension that is the trademark of so many of the wingnuttiest posters here. I think he's deliberately being a moron to test that "temperament" problem of hers that they're all talking about.

          If he can only get a rise out of Sotomayor with his endless stupidity, he can call for the fainting couch and start crying about the vitriol and anger. Just like what goes on at this site all the time.

            Ha! I think that's the interview that helped launch Colbert.

              BTW, who was that that asked Dubya in an interview: "why are you so perfect"?
