Here's another fix: tax the Christian Broadcasting Network and all other so-called "churches" that want to remove the separation between Church and State. The Constitution says there will be no religious test for any public office in the land. If Robertson et. al. want to shred the Constitution, they should at least help to pay for the effort needed to keep it intact.

I think ALL churches should not be tax exempt anyway. What a scam that is.

I have no problem with churches being tax exempt but I agree with Easy. When they cross that line and enter partisan politics they should lose that exemption very quickly. People I know told me that their church INSTRUCTED them to vote for Bush in 08. Those churches and Robertsons church ought to have no such exemption

You could lump the Catholic church in there, who told a lot of their parishoners that if they voted for Obama, they would not receive Holy Communion.

That's crossing the line as well I think.

I agree and it actually does jeopardize their tax free status when they do things like that. Doesn't seem like it's really acted on too often though.

It is a scam. They operate under the same peace of mind that comes from the same police, fire and military protection that the taxpayers get.

I occasionally check on Americans United for Separation of Church and State's website and see who's crossing the line. I even reported one story about a 'librul' church that promoted a candidate (illegal)

      Yeah Pat, that would work.

Of course, it wouldn't. You want to put the country into more dire straits? Sure, fire half of the government workforce, because it's not as if those people need those jobs or anything like that. I mean, back in 2006, there were almost 15 million people who worked for the federal government, fire 7.5 million people, and I'm willing to bet unemployment numbers are going to get worse, as well as a limited number of jobs those folks would be able to get hired for after getting fired.

Pat, you're an idiot. Once again.

Was thinking of Pat (not positively) this morning, as I was driving into NYC. BBC feed was reporting on Charles Taylor of Liberia and his war crimes trial at the Hague. I remembered Pat, who had investments in Liberia, was hysterical about the fact that we weren't backing Taylor in his predations, because, "he's a Baptist."

Pat knows only one thing about politics -- if your Daddy's a Senator, you don't have to go into the Army, even if you're drafted.

NEWSFLASH: Today, Pat Robertson proved that he didn't know any more about economics than he does about the Bible. Why anyone listens to anything he has to say is hard for me to understand, since he's basically Rush Limbaugh with a pulpit.

Rush Limbaugh with a radio station is scary enough.

The best would be get rid of the tax exemption for religious institutions. This would bring in quiet a bit from Robertson's group.

Wait did Pat Robinson just complain about how checks and balances in the government are whats wrong with the government?

I coulda sworn that checks and balances were the fundemental parts of this government and the thing that set it apart from all the other failed dictoral systems in the world... Maybe Robinson thinks the US would do better as a Theocracy
