Obama said last night that he never played organized baseball as a child...I guess he was busy studying Marxist philosophy in a Muslim country. It is therefore understandable why his pitching form may not meet the standards of someone, such as Joe Scarborough, who grew up playing baseball like REAL American kids do. The bottom line is, do we really know Barack Obama? ;>)

JJ, this is what I think happened: Barack Obama is reportedly a big sports fan who watches ESPN. Recently, ESPN replayed a video of a celebrity (I forget who) tossing out the first pitch at a major league baseball game, and he missed the catcher entirely by a good ten feet. I think Obama was trying to avoid that. Obama did not throw "like a girl." It appeared to me that he was not confident in his accuracy and was trying to cautiously "aim" the ball instead of throwing it fluidly. He simply tossed the ball instead letting it fly...

Those of us knowledgeable about such things recognized immediately that Obama had thrown a picture perfect unhittable change-up curve ball that ended up out of the strike zone and would have fooled any sub-.500 hitter. Anybody can throw a fast ball in the zone, but throwing junk is how one makes a living in the big-leagues.

And the fact is that if the administration needs ball players, well... confirm Sotomayor, for cryin' out loud. She's Puerto Rican, right?

Sotomayor being Puerto Rican naturally would make a good baseball player. :-(
She's passing the try-out for catcher, with Jeff Sessions, lindsey Graham & Co. throwing all their lame curveballs.

Actually, I think she's showing herself to be quite the hitter, batting around .950 against Sessions, Graham, and Hatch, regardless of her heritage. I expect she'll single-handedly empty the bullpucky-pen before the final inning.

Thank you my darlin Julia, you know I like it when you defer to me about anything, so I'll happily take this one :-)

Obama wasn't trying to throw a major league strike, just get the ball to the catcher & he did that just fine. I think if he wasn't a natural athlete he couldn't have thrown with the accuracy that he did.

I watched these idiots poke fun at Obama this morning & thought to myself...yeah I'd like to see anyone of you do that any better!!

On The West Wing, Jed Bartlett threw out a first pitch while wearing a bulletproof vest the Secret Service insisted he wear. I wonder if Obama had the same sort of vest under his White Sox jersey. That can cause a bit of awkwardness as well.

When I was a little kid, my mother used to watch the "Today" show in the morning, I was bored out of my mind and thought the grown-ups were talking about the dumbest things. I never turn the TV on in the morning unless there is a weather or national emergency. I see that I am not missing anything. Okay, so President Obama throws baseballs and bowling balls like a girl, so what! The last time I looked, we didn't hire him for his athletic prowess, we hired him for his political savvy. This point is proved by the way but the juxtopposed footage of President Bush throwing a pitch in much better style. Well, on second thought, maybe we should use it as a test, after all. If he throws like a girl vote for him and if he throws a great fastball contact a team scout but don't vote for him.

Barack Obama has had is eye on the Presidency of the United States since 2007. Since, he has had to convince a whole country that he many things including (but not limited to):
1: Being a natural born citizen.
      2: A christian.
3: That he didn't "pal around with terrorists."
      and
4: He didn't cause the deaths of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson & Billy Mays.

Now we have just learned the ugly truth, that President Obama has also been trying to convince us (and the world) that he is left handed. The video doesn't lie...have any right handed people thrown a baseball with their left hand? Or how about bowling with a blowing ball? It is interesting to know that most, if not all people, are afflicted with this "Morning Joe dainty" syndrome.

Not that any of this matters, but Obama is throwing from the top of the pitcher's mound. In the Bush video, it looks like he's throwing from the front of the mound... ten feet closer.

Again, does it really matter? Richard Nixon was pretty good with a yo-yo...

Witnessed Bush trying to pole vault - couldn't even get 3 feet in the air. Pitiful.

Watched Bush trying to swim the butterfly - couldn't coordinate his kick with his arms. Pathetic.

"Okay" you say. "I get your point. Often, athletic feats require practice, skill, and familiarity before one appears proficient."

Actually several of my friends who joined softball leagues as adults and never played baseball as kids all throw kind of awkwardly. I guess it's a muscle memory kind of thing.

I'd love to see a video of Ronald Reagan back in the day, throwing out the first pitch, he must have had wicked 98MPH fastball.
