I find it difficult to be optimistic about any sort of redemption of the people that listen to this man. When Limbaugh tries to make a joke in this fashion, it reminds me of the kids who used to hang around with the bully on the play ground, who would laugh at every and any joke, regardless of how funny it was because they were either sycophantic or just plain dumb. Limbaugh and his stunted, impotent sense of humour are not the problem. His listeners are.

Limpjaw IS the problem. He is the one solely responsible for the horrid state of political discourse in this country. We would not have any Savages, Hannitys, Levins, Becks, Bruces, Coulters, etc. if Limpjaw had never existed.

You are absolutely right. Limpdog was the prototype... he demonstrated that rich corporatists could buy entire markets of radio stations and subsidize no-talent Hate Jocks to promote their political agenda.

It's a pretty good scam, actually.

I dunno i remember Joe Pyne or Joe Paine were spouting stuff on the radio before alot of people had TV's and it was pretty horrible. There were alot less stations also, but I do agree Rush and his corporate sponsors has turned this hate radio stuff into a "golden goose."

Doesn't that sort of prove my original point? The audience has always been there. Limbaugh's just a brand that's built up a strong following.

I disagree. Limbaugh provides a service that is in demand because of the choices of his audience. They chose to think that his rhetoric is of some substance. They decided that he represented their opinions. Saying that he is 'solely responsible for the horrid state of political discourse' denies his listeners and Savage, Hannity, Beck, and the others any agency, which is overly simplistic. It also grants Limbaugh too much power.

Listen to his style. It meets the needs of simple-minded listeners. He doesn't make them think. He simply legitimizes and reinforces the opinions that they have already formed for themselves. In fact, the only place where there is originality in all of Limbaugh's world is in the connections he draws between certain foregone conclusions. Granted, Beck has taken that ball and run with it. But that doesn't mean that it started with Limbaugh.

It started with the listeners. Without their demand for him, he wouldn't be there. People might say that there wasn't anything like Limbaugh before him and they might be right. But idiots have been around forever.

I think every person who listens to his show, whether they love him or hate him, has been alienated at some point by Rush.

Ed challenged Limpjaw to go on his program so Limpjaw's panties are all up in a bunch. He will not do it cuz he's a huge coward so he will throw out appellations worthy of a two y/o.

Limpjaw's just being Limpjaw. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Too bad Rush doesn't have the balls to debate liberals. I think Ed would mop the floor with him.

Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, et al, will never appear on program to debate someone unless they control the microphone. That speaks volumes about their belief in the garbage they spew. Hannity got called out by Olberman on waterboarding and the result is Hannity ran away.

i am thinking that maybe the best thing we can do is to just start ignoring this man. i know that the goal is to dispell the lies and half truths he spews out everyday. but really, the poeple that listen to him are to far gone for any reality to penetrate so it's time to just write off that segment of society and to treat them as the special people they truly are. also, a little after this rush rant he went on to talk about not standing for principles and how congress are cowards. well, thats calling the kettle black eh? this is coming from a man who has NEVER done one thing in the service of this country. he dodged the military so others can die for him and he won't actually run for office to implement his great ideas that accoring to him would transform and save this country. he's like that really obnoxious guy at a party who is very loud and knows everything about everything. trouble is when you catch him alone you find his mind is really as empty as the vacuum of space. in my opinion it's time to just ignore him until he crawls off and dies.

You cannot ignore Rush because his statements need to monitored. He has a loyal audience and one of these people may decide to do something just like Timothy McVeigh. That does not mean you need to respond to his statements because I doubt he can convert a reasonable person to a ditto head. There will be a time when his ratings will sag and then he will be even more extreme in his statements.

Thanks, but no thanks. Serial misleaders were ignored for way too long. Even 5 years ago, John Kerry ignored them for way too long.

Ignoring them would be a terrible idea. You are 100% wrong to think it is a good idea.

Wow. That's the BEST he can do? That's sad. (Dennis Miller's "Rosaene Barrio" the other day was MUCH better.)

He's slipping. (Well, he SLIPPED years ago... Lately he's been feebly thrashing around on the ground in a growing pile & puddle of his own excerement.)

Blimpykins Blumpkinbaugh isn't qualified to carry Ed Shultz's nutcup, but I am guessing he dreams of it. Who knows what goes on is Rush's palatial drug den all alone down there in Florida.

Now now now. Listen, a talking horse and a liberal, both named Ed, got to have successful TV shows, and poor Rush is trapped on the radio. It's enough to make any adult baby fussy. I'm guessing he was just overdue for a feeding, or maybe a little burping. He sounded gassy to me...
