He "thinks they are getting played".

Duh! Wake up and smell the coffee. Every time they put one of the GOP wind bags on the air to spew their nonsense they are getting played. Don't but the wind bags on the air! They have nothing constructive to say. We have heard the same old broken record over and over.

I agree with Chuck Todd, "we are being played"

The media is creating a story line that is less about what is happening, and more about what the news departments find compelling.

It'd be nice if someone would report the news instead of telling a story.

Wow! You mean to tell me that the media is creating the whole narrative?! I am shocked. Who woulda thunk it?

Media Matters is one of my favorite sites, but I feel bad for those who have to write for it. Why? It's simple, really.

The folks at Media Matters behave as if the cable and network news sites are actually concerned about 'reportingi and accurately representing news.

However, as we all well know by now, these networks exist for one reason only...to create entertainment. They do not report...they 'spin.'

Nobody cares about making false assertions, or distorting reality, because outrageous posturing furthers the entertainment brand.

As an example, how many times, when fallacies are pointed out on this site, with facts to back it up, is anything ever corrected?

I mean, it is great to point out all the BS we are being fed, but these networks have zero interest in journalistic integrity.

If it is salacious and mean-spirited enough, it gets precedence.

The sad reality is it is not just the paid off politicians that prevent Americans from getting at the truth...it is also the corporate-controlled media.

News networks were never intended to inform...just make money.

But even the smallest bit of truth in the mix can destroy the spin. I would contend that MMFA has changed the landscape a bit. Rush, for example, knows that he is being monitored for his comments and despite that keeps misinforming. Would it be worse if he didn't know he was being monitored? I would guess yes.

Actions and words have consequences. If the nets/news channels/talk radio want to play the profit game and spin their dramas, thank the universe there is something like MMFA to counter the b.s. And maybe, just maybe, they will adjust their behavior, even slightly.

I'm also cynical enough to think it won't happen on a grand scale, the genie is out of the bottle. But as long as there is truth, they better watch their backs.

I do not deny Media Matters is an important resource. I come here specifically so that I can back find supportive references to the facts.

But it has really hit home for me recently how little 'fact' seems to matter to the people that MM reports about.
